INTRODUCTION: Globotriaosylceramide (Gb3, CD77) represents a pivotal part of the cell membrane. Measuring the urinary Gb3 content can be used to screen patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) for Fabry disease, a disorder caused by hampered Gb3 degradation. INTRODUCTION: Olfactory dysfunction has been identified as an early warning sign for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia and more. A few occupational and environmental exposures have also been associated with reduced olfactory function, although the effects of long term environmental exposure to lead on olfactory dysfunction have not been explored. Here we performed olfactory recognition testing in elderly men in a community-dwelling cohort and examined the association with cumulative lead exposure, as assessed by lead in tibial and patellar bone.

BACKGROUND: Collagenofibrotic glomerulopathy is a rare renal disease of unknown etiology that is secondary to deposition of type III collagen within the glomerulus. Only rare case series exist in the literature.
METHODS: Renal biopsies diagnosed with collagenofibrotic glomerulopathy were prospectively collected at the Center for Renal and Urological Pathology (AAK) (Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) from 2012 to 2015. METHODS: International recommendations were followed to translate the "Kujala Score" into Spanish together with a cultural adaptation and validation. We analysed the following parameters: internal consistency, agreement construct validity, test-retest reliability, ceiling and floor effects, and responsiveness. The reproducibility and responsiveness were tested in 72 patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome in a test-retest design with follow-up testing at 7 days.

BACKGROUND: Patellar dislocation occurs when the patella disengages completely from the trochlear (femoral) groove. Following reduction of the dislocation, conservative (non-surgical) rehabilitation with physiotherapy may be used. Since recurrence of dislocation is common, some surgeons have advocated surgical intervention rather than non-surgical interventions. This is an update of a Cochrane review first published in 2011.
