INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Busch-Hoffa fractures are rare intra-articular coronal plane fractures of the femoral condyle that often remain unnoticed, particularly when complications develop. Due to their instability and risk of long-term problems, these fractures require immediate anatomical reduction and stable fixation. The occurrence of a Busch-Hoffa fracture in conjunction with patellar dislocation is extremely rare and has been rarely reported in the current literature.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case involving a 21-year-old male who experienced a Bagaria type 2 Hoffa fracture of t

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate whether the use of intraoperative 3D fluoroscopy during acetabular fracture fixation reduces the rate of unplanned returns to the operating room and improves radiographic quality of reduction without increasing operative time or blood loss.
DESIGN: Retrospective comparative study.
SETTING: Single urban Level I trauma center.
PATIENT SELECTION CRITERIA: Patients with operatively treated acetabular fractures (OTA/AO 62) between 2017 and 2025. Patients were divided into 2 cohorts: those treated before and after the implementation of intraoperative 3D fluoroscopy (Cios S

INTRODUCTION: Posterior hip dislocations combined with acetabular posterior wall fractures are usually managed with open reduction and internal fixation. However, select cases may benefit from closed reduction followed by minimally invasive arthroscopic evaluation.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of a 27-year-old male who sustained left side complex posterior hip dislocation with ipsilateral compound Grade 2 fracture of the shaft of the tibia with facial and chest injury following a high-speed motorcycle accident. The injury was successfully managed with closed manual reduction of the hip joint

Recurrent knee effusion after penetrating trauma is unusual in children and should prompt a search for occult intra-articular foreign bodies to prevent cartilage damage and repeated procedures. A 12-year-old girl suffered a glass-induced penetrating injury to the right knee. Initial radiographs were normal and the patient's wound was irrigated and debrided. However, the patient presented three weeks later with persistent knee effusion. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed synovitis, joint fluid, and an impacted osteochondral lesion of the medial femoral condyle. Laboratory evaluation demons

BACKGROUND: Latarjet is a reliable surgery for shoulder instability, particularly in cases of glenoid bone loss. However, there is a paucity of literature regarding the utility of shoulder arthroscopy with open Latarjet. Prior to Latarjet, shoulder arthroscopy can evaluate the joint and assess for the need for concomitant procedures.
PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of this study was to determine if arthroscopy performed in conjunction with open Latarjet identifies pathology that alters surgical procedures performed. It was hypothesized that arthroscopy would effectively identify additional pa

INTRODUCTION: Elbow movement is crucial for proper upper limb function, allowing the hand to be positioned accurately in space. However, the elbow is highly susceptible to stiffness, which can result from a variety of traumatic or non-traumatic causes. Diagnosis of elbow stiffness involves a thorough medical history and physical examination, often supported by relevant imaging studies. Managing a stiff elbow can be difficult, making prevention a key consideration. If preventive measures are insufficient, treatment typically progresses from non-surgical to surgical options. For patients present

INTRODUCTION: Synovial chondromatosis (SCM) is a benign neoplastic condition manifesting as multiple loose bodies within a joint cavity, usually affecting the knee and hip joints. It is a rare cause of shoulder joint pain. There is a challenge in diagnosing this condition, as early findings reveal non-ossified, radiolucent, cartilaginous loose bodies, which significantly delay the diagnosis. Surgical excision and synovectomy are the usual treatments. Here, we present an unusual case of SCM of the shoulder joint that was successfully treated with arthroscopic excision, with good functional outc

OBJECTIVE OF WORK: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a degenerative condition affecting both osseous and soft tissue structures. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) offers detailed visualization of osseous changes, while magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides superior assessment of soft tissues, particularly the articular disc. The relationship between bony degeneration and disc abnormalities remains poorly defined. This study examined the correlation between CBCT-identified osseous radiological features of TMJ OA and MRI-detected disc displacement patterns.

OBJECTIVE: Arthroscopic surgery is recommended for the treatment of hip synovial chondromatosis, as it allows patients to resume daily activities quickly and requires only a short rehabilitation period. Despite its advantages, there is currently no standardized protocol for arthroscopic hip synovectomy, and complete removal of intra-articular loose bodies remains challenging. The objective of this study is to evaluate long-term clinical outcomes of arthroscopic treatment for hip synovial chondromatosis using a standardized protocol based on clock-face-guided, imaging-based lesion localization.

BACKGROUND: Because of the difficulty of baseball players with capitellar osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) lesions to return to sport (RTS), multiple operative strategies have been used for these lesions. However, there has yet to be a systematic review of RTS outcomes in specifically baseball players.
PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of this study was to compare the RTS rates between surgical procedures for capitellar OCD lesions in youth baseball players, with a secondary purpose of comparing improvements in elbow range of motion (ROM) and improvements in Timmerman-Andrews scores between surg

INTRODUCTION: Traumatic injuries of the ligamentum teres (LT) are an underrecognized cause of hip pain and instability. Diagnosis is often delayed due to nonspecific symptoms and normal radiographs. Complete LT rupture associated with intra-articular hyaline body formation is rare and may result in chronic mechanical symptoms.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 38-year-old female presented with progressive right hip pain and limping over two years following direct blunt trauma. Symptoms evolved into mechanical pain, instability, and restricted motion despite conservative management. Clinical examination re

Passive stabilisers of the canine shoulder joint include the articular surfaces, glenoid labrum, joint capsule and glenohumeral ligaments, in functional entity with the biceps brachii tendon. Their anatomical description differs widely. This explorative study aimed to screen a heterogeneous group of dogs on variations of these structures. Twenty-three canine forelimbs were dissected. The glenoid cavity outlines, their circularity values, and the configuration of the glenoid labrum and ligaments were recorded, as well as their relationship to the biceps brachii tendon. The shape of the glenoid

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Persistent pain after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a common complication requiring extensive diagnostic effort and is often associated with potentially invasive and morbid treatment options. With THA volume expected to steadily increase there is a similarly growing need for creative and effective diagnostic and therapeutic options for these clinically challenging patients. Hip arthroscopy has emerged as a promising tool in the setting of persistent pain after THA with expanding indications and promising outcomes. The purpose of this article was to provide a review of the

OBJECTIVE: Autologous minced cartilage offers a single-stage, low-cost alternative to cell therapies for treatment of chondral defects. It is often derived from debrided defects or loose bodies, then minced for reimplantation. However, there is a paucity of knowledge on how mincing cartilage impacts viability and extracellular matrix deposition compared to quality-controlled cell therapies. The purpose is therefore to better characterize minced cartilage by comparing different mincing techniques to isolated cells.
METHODS: Cartilage samples were obtained from fresh human osteochondral allogra

Chronic monoarticular joint pain in paediatric patients is prevalent, yet the aetiology often remains unidentified when initial imaging yields no abnormalities. This case highlights a rare but significant differential diagnosis: synovial chondromatosis. Early identification is essential to prevent joint damage, but diagnosis is frequently delayed due to subtle clinical manifestations and inconclusive initial imaging. Notably, mechanical symptoms and recurrent joint effusions are key indicators. In such cases, persistent pain with recurrent effusion should prompt early consideration of synovial

Background and Objectives: Synovial chondromatosis is a rare benign disease characterized by chondral metaplasia of the synovial membrane and the formation of intra-articular loose bodies. Although usually benign, delayed diagnosis may lead to progressive joint damage, recurrence, and, rarely, malignant transformation. Materials and Methods: A narrative review of the literature was conducted using the PubMed/MEDLINE database, focusing on studies published between January 2010 and December 2025. Eligible studies addressed the classification, epidemiology, clinical presentation, imaging findings

We report the case of a 32-year-old male professional soccer player presenting with a one-year history of posterior ankle pain due to posterior ankle impingement syndrome secondary to an elongated Stieda process and loose bodies. Preoperative review of MRI revealed an anatomical variation of the posterior neurovascular bundle in relation to the flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon at the level of the ankle joint. In this case, the neurovascular bundle was situated posterior and lateral to the FHL tendon, as opposed to medial to the FHL tendon, as seen in typical anatomy. This finding is signifi
