Extended Endarterectomy Across the Inguinal Ligament Using Inguinal-Lifting in the Surgery for Critical Limb Ischemia.

This case report presents a case of lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD) with severe calcified lesions extending from the external iliac artery to the bifurcation of the superficial femoral artery, involving the groin region. Owing to the complexity and risk of complications, such as infections and delayed wound healing, revascularization was performed with extensive endarterectomy. The inguinal-lifting technique (ILT) was used to provide safe surgical access and minimize complications. The procedure resulted in successful revascularization with no major wound-related issues. Inflammation-responsive biomimetic hybrid nanovesicles reverse stem cell senescence by up-regulating SIRT1 to treat periodontitis.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting billions globally, posing a significant public health challenge due to its high prevalence and associated tooth loss. The inflammatory microenvironment engendered by periodontitis can induce cellular senescence and functional impairment in critical reparative cells, such as periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs), severely compromising their osteogenic differentiation potential and thereby obstructing the regeneration and repair of periodontal tissues, particularly alveolar bone. Although existing fundamental treatments, including su

Ventral Transorbital Apicoectomy of the Maxillary Second and Third Molar Teeth in Guinea Pigs (Cavia porcellus): 26 Cases.

A common cause of teeth malocclusion and feeding disorders in guinea pigs is macrodontia and odontogenic abscesses. If the maxillary second or third molar teeth are affected, surgical access to them has so far been achieved through enucleation or orbital evisceration due to their location at the base of the orbit. The study aims to demonstrate a transorbital surgical approach to the apices of the maxillary molar teeth (M2 and M3) in guinea pigs, allowing preservation of the eye. Twenty six apicoectomies of maxillary M2 and M3 were performed. The surgical approach involved a skin incision above

Recombinant Human Amelogenin Protein Enhances Tendon-To-Bone Healing in a Rat Rotator Cuff Tear Model.

Rotator cuff tears (RCTs) often require surgical intervention; however, surgical outcome is frequently insufficient due to poor healing of the tendon-bone enthesis, leading to high retear rates. Previously, the recombinant human amelogenin protein (rHAM+) regenerated injured or diseased musculoskeletal tissues including ligaments and osteochondral injuries. We therefore hypothesized that rHAM+ can also induce regeneration of the biomechanical and structural properties of the enthesis. The right shoulder infraspinatus tendon of 75 rats was fully-transected, and treated either with 0.5 mg/mL rHA

Reliability and Repeatability of Diffusion Tensor Imaging in Healthy and Pathological Patellar Tendons.

Patellar tendinopathy and bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft harvest for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction are tendon injuries that impact long-term knee health. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is a non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) based approach with the potential to assess tendon microstructure. This study aimed to determine the inter-rater reliability of segmentations and test-retest repeatability of DTI metrics in pathological and contralateral patellar tendons. Ten participants received two bilateral knee MRI scans within a 7-day period. 3D CUBE proton density weighte

Surgical management and imaging evaluation of post-traumatic periscaphoid osteoarthritis (SLAC and SNAC wrists).

An untreated scapholunate interosseous ligament injury or scaphoid nonunion leads to progressive post-traumatic periscaphoid osteoarthritis and carpal collapse. Symptomatic forms, known as scapholunate advanced collapse (SLAC) or scaphoid nonunion advanced collapse (SNAC), are common and disabling, requiring surgical management. Numerous operative options exist depending on the stage of collapse and the extent of joint involvement. We apply a modified Watson radiological classification consisting of four stages of pancarpal collapse, integrating the etiological origin (SLAC or SNAC) and the ar

Enhancing Knee Disease Diagnosis via Multi-View Graph Representation With Multi-Task Pre-Training.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an indispensable tool for clinical knee examination, which often scans 2D stacked slices from multiple views. Radiologists typically locate lesion regions in one view, and then refer to other views to formulate a comprehensive diagnosis. However, existing computer-aided diagnosis methods fall short of identifying and fusing local regions in multi-view scans, leading to a decline in diagnostic performance and a heavy reliance on extensively annotated data. This paper introduces a novel framework that represents multi-view MRI scans as a knee graph, and conduc

Effect of stem cell therapies on tendon-bone healing after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in animal models: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is widely performed, yet insufficient tendon-bone healing remains a key contributor to graft failure. Stem cell-based interventions, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and stem cell-derived products (e.g., exosomes/extracellular vesicles), have shown potential to enhance tendon-bone integration in preclinical models. However, findings across animal studies are heterogeneous and have not been comprehensively synthesized. This review aims to evaluate the effects of stem cell-based therapies on tendon-bone healing after ACL recons

WTAP Contributes to Periodontitis Pathogenesis by Promoting PDLSC Senescence and Impairing Osteogenic Differentiation via m6A-Dependent Regulation of TP53BP1.

BACKGROUND: Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease, represents the primary cause of tooth loss in Chinese adults. Wilms tumor 1-associating protein (WTAP) is a key component of the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase complex, and has an unclear role in periodontitis pathogenesis, particularly concerning its regulatory functions in periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs). METHODS: The target gene was identified through the GES260558 dataset and Genecards database. Gene expression was measured using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blot. Periodontitis-

Suture tape augmentation in arthroscopic lateral ligament repair for chronic ankle instability yields similar clinical outcomes but faster return to sport compared to isolated repair.

PURPOSE: Arthroscopic ligament repair is a standard treatment for chronic ankle instability (CAI). In patients with risk factors for failure, isolated repair (ILR) may be insufficient and augmentation techniques have been proposed. This study compared ILR with suture tape-augmented repair (LR + STA), hypothesizing comparable outcomes in higher-risk patients. METHODS: In this retrospective, indication-based cohort study, all patients who underwent arthroscopic treatment for CAI between 2019 and 2022 were included. Patients were allocated to two groups: Group A underwent ILR, and Group B underw
