BACKGROUND: Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) commonly cause restricted mouth opening and pain, significantly affecting patients' quality of life. This study aims to explore the relationship between common clinical symptoms-clicking and limited mouth opening-and MRI findings in patients diagnosed with TMD.
METHODS: A total of 46 patients, with either clicking sounds or limited mouth opening, were examined using a 3T MRI scanner. The study evaluated disc position, disc deformity, and signs of osteoarthrosis, comparing MRI findings with clinical symptoms.
RESULTS: Results revealed that d

BACKGROUND: Iliocapsularis (IC) muscle hypertrophy in borderline developmental dysplasia of the hip (BDDH) and developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) suggests a possible role as a dynamic hip stabilizer. However, its significance in hip microinstability (MI) without acetabular undercoverage remains unclear.
PURPOSE: To compare IC muscle dimensions and fatty infiltration between patients with MI, BDDH, and mixed-type femoroacetabular impingement (mFAI), and assess the association between IC muscle morphology and hip pathology.
STUDY DESIGN: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 4.

BACKGROUND: Anterior shoulder dislocation is the most common dislocation in the musculoskeletal system, frequently occurring in traumatic events and athletic activities. Many anatomical features of this joint have been reported to be risk factors for anterior shoulder dislocation with inconsistent findings, in which these features can be detected using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a safe observational tool rather than a diagnostic one. This study aims to determine the independent and most relevant risk factor(s) of anterior shoulder dislocation.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is associated with musculoskeletal complications in children, notably hip migration, which can progress to hip dislocation and joint degeneration. Without regular radiological monitoring, early-stage hip migration can be missed, potentially leading to complex, high-risk operations later in life. Hip surveillance programmes, such as the Swedish Uppföljningsprogram för Cerebral Pares (CPUP) and UK-based Cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway (CPIP) and CPIP Scotland (CPIPS), aim to identify and address hip pathology proactively through serial radiological and clinical assessments.

DDH is far more than just a contributing factor to hip osteoarthritis; it represents a formidable challenge to the health of infants and young children. While historical research has largely focused on the osseous abnormalities associated with DDH, current surgical interventions, though prevalent, often carry significant and unavoidable side effects. To break through these limitations, the study delved into the acetabular labrum, a crucial intra-articular structure that presents abnormalities in DDH patients. Through single-cell combined spatial transcriptomic analysis of the acetabular labrum

BACKGROUND: Temporomandibular joint ADD is highly prevalent and harmful, and some patients have no obvious clinical symptoms, but it can cause facial asymmetry, mandibular retrusion and other dental and maxillofacial deformities. Nevertheless, the impact of ADD on condylar height in individuals of varying age groups remains uncertain particularly with regard to condylar heights at different stages of development. The aim of this retrospective case-control study was to investigate the association between condylar height and temporomandibular joint anterior disc displacement (ADD) in different a

BACKGROUND: Bankart lesions and Hill-Sachs lesions can be detected in up to the majority of recurrent dislocations. This study aims to develop a grading system for Hill-Sachs lesions and assess its association with Bankart lesions. The proposed grading system, based on the dimensions of Hill-Sachs lesions, offers a standardized approach for classifying these defects, thereby facilitating the comparison of research findings across studies. Additionally, this study tends to estimate the highly significant association between Hill-Sachs lesions and the presence of Bankart lesions compared to prev

PURPOSE: Recurrent patellar dislocations (RPDs) are prevalent, particularly among adolescents. The 'Menu à la carte' technique facilitates personalized management of each patient through reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) while simultaneously addressing other anatomical factors that may contribute to instability. Arthroscopy, frequently performed prior to stabilization surgery to identify and treat intra-articular pathology, carries specific risks. Fluid arthroscopy can increase post-operative effusion, while dry arthroscopy may expose cartilage to potential damage due

Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocations are common shoulder injuries. The most common causes of ACJ dislocations may also lead to SLAP lesions, which are the most common types of labral tears associated with ACJ dislocations. Tenotomy of the long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT) is one viable alternative for proximal biceps tendon pathology or SLAP tears, yielding high patient satisfaction. We describe a hybrid technique of autologous LHBT combined with FiberTape (Arthrex, Naples, FL) in a venae comitantes fashion in which a parallel figure-of-8 conjoint stabilizer is constructed for coraco

BACKGROUNDS: The primary controversy surrounding the treatment of anterior disc displacement (ADD) of temporomandibular joints (TMJ) stems from the unclear relationship between disc position and condylar adaptation. The long-term impact of varying disc position on condylar bone remodeling remains poorly understood.
METHODS: A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of different disc positions on condylar bone modeling/remodeling at baseline (T0) and after an 18-month follow-up (T1). Patients under 25 years of age diagnosed with TMJ ADD without reduction (ADD

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a commonly encountered pathology in everyday pediatric radiology practice. Early detection of the condition and early institution of therapy are crucial in optimizing patient outcomes and preventing long-term morbidity. Ultrasound is the imaging modality of choice in evaluating DDH in patients less than 4 months of age and is also used to evaluate infants undergoing treatment with an abduction device to monitor therapy response. This article will begin with a general review of DDH, including the underlying pathophysiology of the condition and which p

BACKGROUND: Monteggia fracture is defined as a combination of a proximal ulnar fracture with radial head dislocation. Radial head dislocation may be misdiagnosed under an elbow radiograph, leading to further complications. This study aimed to compare the ulnar fracture pattern characteristics between Monteggia fracture and an isolated proximal ulnar fracture in terms of how close the fracture site is to the coronoid and what type of fracture pattern is more likely to result in radial head dislocation.
METHODS: This single-center retrospective study, conducted from January 2014 to June 2022, i

BACKGROUND: Patellar instability is a multifactorial pathology that poses significant challenges for orthopaedic surgeons in accurately diagnosing and effectively addressing its underlying causes. Recently, increased femorotibial (FT) rotation has been shown to contribute to patellar instability by further lateralizing the muscle force vector acting on the patella. However, there is a paucity of evidence regarding interventions that influence this parameter.
HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: To assess whether patellar stabilizing procedures influence FT rotation in patients with trochlear dysplasia (TD) in
