The forearm function in children is influenced by several factors, with the length relationship between the ulna and radius being particularly important. However, due to the underdevelopment of cartilage in children, assessing this length relationship through imaging techniques is challenging. This study aims to identify a reliable method for evaluating the lengths of the ulna and radius in children, establish normal values for the ratio of the epiphyseal plate lengths of these bones, examine this ratio in children with Monteggia fractures, and investigate its role in determining forearm funct

BACKGROUND: Inferior subluxation of the humeral head following shoulder trauma, osteosynthesis, or rotator cuff repair has been considered as a benign or temporary phenomenon due to muscle fatigue or capsular injury. However, the clinical impact is still unclear as to their occurrence after plating for proximal humerus fractures. This study aims to investigate their patterns and identify associated risk factors as well as clinical outcomes.
METHODS: The research included patients who received locking plate surgery following an acute proximal humerus fracture with a minimum follow-up of 12 mon

BACKGROUND: The Tönnis classification is widely used to quantify the severity of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) based on the epiphyseal ossification center, while the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) has proposed an alternative system. However, the pathological morphology associated with these classifications remains inadequately defined.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to elucidate the correlation between the Tönnis classification and the IHDI classification with the pathological morphology of cartilage and soft tissues in DDH.

The identification of critical Hill Sachs lesions prone to engagement with the anterior glenoid rim is decisive for treatment decision making in anterior shoulder instability patients. Untreated critical Hill Sachs lesions can lead to recurrence of instability after surgical stabilization procedures. The glenoid track concept is currently used to quantify the likelihood of engagement of a Hill Sachs lesion but heavily relies on the difficult identification of the rotator cuff insertion and does not account for the laxity of the patient. Accordingly, studies have not been able to consistently c

Tendons are connective tissues that join muscles and bones and are rich in glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Decorin is a proteoglycan with one dermatan sulfate (DS) or chondroitin sulfate (CS) chain (a type of GAG) attached to its core protein and is involved in regulating the assembly of collagen fibrils in the tendon extracellular matrix (ECM). Calcium-activated nucleotidase 1 (CANT1), a nucleotidase that hydrolyzes uridine diphosphate into uridine monophosphate and phosphate, plays an important role in GAG synthesis in cartilage. In the present study, we performed detailed histological and bioche

BACKGROUND: Three-dimensional (3D)-reconstructed computed tomography (CT) images have been used to evaluate on-track/off-track Hill-Sachs lesions. In the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method, there is no need to reconstruct images to determine the measurement position, and measurements can be easily performed using the standard axial and sagittal imaging sequences. For these reasons, recent studies have increasingly adopted MRI for measurements. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether or not the measurements using magnetic resonance (MR) images were as accurate as those using 3

The patella, biggest of all sesamoid bones, is an integral part of knee biomechanical function. It is a pivot for the quadriceps, enabling them to stabilize and contract during motion. With its complex shape, comprising many stabilizing structures and significant parts of articulation, its evaluation and analysis become a challenging issue in radiology departments worldwide. In this article, its evaluation with conventional radiography and Multidetector Computed Tomography, and its role in patellar pathology, have been discussed. In an extended discussion, key measurements, such as the trochle

OBJECTIVE: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) exhibits abnormalities in hip anatomy, so changes in the acetabular and femoral angles hold clinical relevance. This study aimed to investigate the correlations between acetabular anteversion (AAV) and acetabular abduction (AAB), as well as between combined anteversion and combined abduction in patients with DDH, attempting to give evidence for synchronous torsion of the proximal femur and acetabulum. This study also aimed to propose a new method for predicting acetabular anteversion and combined anteversion angles, respectively, based on ace

INTRODUCTION: Discussions related to the diagnosis and management of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (TMDs) have always been interesting, and at times controversial, since they involve combinations of dental, medical, and surgical etiological theories and management strategies. Amongst the various recommendations that emerged over the years was that any dental and surgical procedures that are primarily focused on mandible repositioning and irreversible changes to dental occlusion should be avoided. This statement has important implications for appraising the validity of physiopathology
