Spinal discitis osteomyelitis is commonly caused by hematogenous spread of Staphylococcus aureus to the disc space. Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus species, particularly Staphylococcus carnosus has not been reported as the cause before. PURPOSE: Children with non-ambulatory cerebral palsy (CP) often have neuromuscular scoliosis (NMS) that requires surgical correction. Many of these children also have co-existing spasticity treated with an intrathecal baclofen pump (ITBP).
