To elucidate the neurologic features of chronic Minamata disease, and the incidence of complications with aging, we studied 80 patients with documented Minamata disease (organic mercury poisoning) from 1986 to 1994 (mean age: 63 years). Hip fracture is frequent in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. The aim of this work was to assess bone mass in women with hip fracture and compare it with that of normal women. Bone densities of lumbar spine (considering areas with and without spondylosis), femoral neck, greater trochanter, and unfractured hip Ward's triangle were measured with a double beam isotopic densitometer. Spondylolisthesis is considered one of the common causes of back pain in children. There are far fewer cases reported in children under the age of 4 years. However, all patients described were diagnosed by radiographic examination in a workup for other congenital or musculoskeletal abnormalities. This report describes a 2-year-old girl who presented with low back pain and was subsequently diagnosed with spondylolisthesis.

Sporting activity in wrestlers operated on for spondylolisthesis is not well documented in the literature. We present the case of a wrestler with a grade I L5-S1 spondylolisthesis who was L4-S1 arthrodesed due to pain not relieved by conservative methods.
