BACKGROUND: This study compares ultrasound and surgical findings of anatomical variations in de Quervain's disease.
METHODS: Seventy-four wrists from patients with unilateral de Quervain's disease were examined through ultrasonography and surgery. Presence of intracompartment septum, abductor pollicis longus (APL) slips, and selective stenosis were verified by both methods. Two orthopedic surgeons assessed ultrasound findings for intra- and interobserver reliability.
RESULTS: Amongst 74 participants (43 women and 31 men), 60.8% had a complete septum, 31.1% had an incomplete septum, and 8.1%

INTRODUCTION: De Quervain's stenosing tendinosis (DQST) is common in new mothers because of awkward wrist postures during repetitive mothering occupations such as nursing and lifting their baby. However, little is known about how DQST affects occupations of first-time mothers. This study aimed to explore the experiences of first-time mothers living with DQST and how it affects performance of their motherhood occupations.
METHODS: A descriptive phenomenological study design was used. Participants were 15 first-time mothers of a child aged ≤24 months, with a current or previous diagnosis of DQS

BACKGROUND: Corticosteroid injections are a first-line treatment of trigger finger and de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Little research has evaluated preinjection patient-reported outcomes as a predictive factor for treatment success following corticosteroid injection. We hypothesized that patients with less pretreatment impairment would demonstrate greater post-treatment improvement than patients whose function was more severely impaired.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed prospectively collected Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) upper extremity (UE) scores in p

BACKGROUND: Complications related to implant placement can occur during the surgical treatment of displaced distal radius fractures (DRF) with a volar locking plate(VLP). The literature has often focused on implant placement in the sagittal plane, whereas the coronal plane has been neglected. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of VLP protrusions in the coronal plane in the surgical treatment of DRF.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: Between 2015 and 2022, 302 patients who underwent DRF surgery with VLP between 2015 and 2022 were included in the study. Patients were divided into group 1(a

OBJECTIVES: Hand maneuvers commonly used to clinically diagnose De Quervain tenosynovitis (DQT) possess differing intrinsic levels of discomfort. We hypothesized that assessing the degree of pain would better differentiate replication of condition-related pain than a binary "yes or no" assessment, and we hope to use these data to establish thresholds on a Likert pain scale for these tests to designate a positive or negative result. Attempting to minimize false positives associated with a binary positive or negative result may result in the reduction of delayed or inappropriate management.

UNLABELLED: OBJECTIVE: Tendon tears cause significant disability, especially in the elderly. Lipid metabolism was shown to play a role in tendon tear pathogenesis. Statins, which lower cholesterol levels, have been associated with tendinopathies and tendon tears as possible adverse events. This systematic review evaluates the association between statin use and tendon rupture risk, as well as statins' influence on tendon healing after repair. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar databases using specific search strings related to statins

A 58-year-old woman was referred for right wrist pain, with suspicion of stress fracture of the radial styloid. 99m Tc-HDP bone scintigraphy, using new 3D-ring CZT system, was performed. Blood pool SPECT/CT revealed intense hyperemia along the first extensor compartment of the right wrist, suggesting De Quervain tenosynovitis, while late-phase SPECT/CT showed right thumb arthritis. Ultrasound imaging confirmed De Quervain tenosynovitis. Our case highlights the potential of blood pool SPECT/CT using new 3D-ring CZT system to detect relevant extraosseous findings, especially common tendinopathie

We present a patient who initially presented with clinical symptoms consistent with de Quervain tenosynovitis, resistant to conservative treatment. MRI revealed a cystic mass surrounding the radial styloid within the first extensor compartment (abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB)), associated with scaphotrapezoid (STT) arthritis. However, upon surgical exploration, the lesion was identified as a localized tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TSGCT), which had caused erosion of the trapezium bone and compressed the EPB tendon. Histopathology confirmed the diagnosis. Post

BACKGROUND: Corticosteroid injections are an effective treatment for several medical conditions, including de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Depigmentation of the skin after steroid injection is rarely reported.
CASE REPORT: We present a case of a 43-year-old man who has no significant past medical history and came to us with an 8-week history of left wrist pain consistent with de Quervain's tenosynovitis. He underwent injections of triamcinolone and bupivacaine into the tendon sheath of the extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus. Shortly after 3-5 days posttreatment, he had 100% pa
