Diagnostic Comparison of Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Detecting Rotator Cuff Tears: A Study Conducted in the Population of Vijayapura.

BACKGROUND: Injuries to the shoulder and restricted range of motion often lead to decreased work productivity, increased use of medical resources, and impaired quality of life. The most frequent cause of shoulder discomfort and dysfunction is a disease related to the rotator cuff, such as bursitis, degenerative tears, and calcific tendinosis. This study evaluates ultrasonography's diagnostic efficacy in relation to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODOLOGY: Prospective research was conducted at a hospital to compare MRI and ultrasonography for shoulder cases involving rotator cuff injurie

Imaging in psoriatic arthritis: established methods and emerging techniques.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a heterogeneous, chronic, inflammatory musculoskeletal disease that can lead to peripheral and axial damage and loss of function. A clear difference between PsA and other forms of inflammatory arthritis is the different forms of bone remodeling seen in PSA which incorporates not only increased bone resorption with bone erosions, osteolysis, and loss of bone mineral density but also increased bone formation with periostitis, syndesmophytes, enthesiophytes, and ankylosis. PsA, if diagnosed late, will lead to significant structural damage, the most severe form of whic

Ultrasound- Versus Landmark-Guided Corticosteroid Injections in Patients With Shoulder Pain: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.

This meta-analysis evaluated the effects of ultrasound-guided (USG) and landmark-guided (LMG) injections of corticosteroids into the shoulder joint cavity of patients with shoulder pain. The PubMed database was searched for articles (January 1, 2004-December 31, 2023) comparing USG and LMG injections of corticosteroids for the treatment of adult shoulder pain. Two authors independently performed data extraction and appraisal. The outcome measures collected were visual analogue scale (VAS) score and VAS score change at 1 and 6 weeks postinjection and range of motion (ROM) at 6 weeks postinjecti

Does the intervention for adhesive capsulitis in patients with diabetes differ from that for patients without diabetes?: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Adhesive capsulitis (AC) is often accompanied by pain and restriction in range of movement, which long lasting symptoms often have negative impact on patients' work and lives. Since diabetes mellitus (DM) is an independent risk factor for developing AC, and AC with DM have more limitations of joint motion than general people. AIMS: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the difference of clinical efficacy between diabetes and non-diabetes, and to explore whether AC with diabetes need special intervention compared to non-diabetes. METHODS: Pubmed NCBI and Embase were searched

Comparison of the treatment efficacy of suprascapular nerve block and intra-articular shoulder injection techniques in patients diagnosed with adhesive capsulitis.

BACKGROUND: Adhesive capsulitis (AC) is a common cause of shoulder disability. Interventional procedures are used along with many other treatment methods. There are insufficient studies directly comparing the superiority of suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) and intra-articular shoulder injection (IAI) techniques, which are frequently used interventional methods in treatment. OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of ultrasonography-guided SSNB and IAI techniques in terms of pain and functional status in the treatment of AC. DESIGN: A single-center, double-blind randomized study. SETTING: The stu

Rat models of frozen shoulder: Classification and evaluation.

Frozen shoulder (FS), also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition that causes contraction and stiffness of the shoulder joint capsule. The main symptoms are persistent shoulder pain and a limited range of motion in all directions. These symptoms and poor prognosis affect people's physical health and quality of life. Currently, the specific mechanisms of FS remain unclear, and there is variability in treatment methods and their efficacy. Additionally, the early symptoms of FS are difficult to distinguish from those of other shoulder diseases, complicating early diagnosis and treatment. Th

A Case Report Emphasizing the Advantageous Effect of Mulligan Mobilization Technique in the Management of Rotator Cuff Syndrome to Enhance Functional Recovery in a 65-Year-Old Farmer.

Adults with shoulder pain often have partial rotator cuff injuries (RCIs) as the underlying cause. RC partial tears are one of the common conditions that can have a major influence on a wide range of people, including sportspeople, workers, and sedentary adults with rotator cuff syndrome (RCS). Any injury, disease, or deteriorating condition that affects the shoulder's RC muscles and tendons is recognized as RCS. Subacromial bursitis, RC tendonitis, subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS), rotator cuff tears (RCTs), etc., are a few disorders linked to RCS. For partial RCT, nonoperative treatmen

Fexofenadine As Successful Adjunctive Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Trochanteric Bursitis: A Case Report.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory joint disease that results in cartilage and bone damage, primarily involving synovial joints. The hallmark feature of this condition is inflammatory polyarthritis which can be associated with other joint pathologies, including bursitis. Many treatment options help relieve joint pain and slow down damage to the joints in both RA and bursitis. However, not all treatments are effective or affordable. These treatments include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDS), conventional DMA

A Case of Bilateral Cryptococcal Olecranon Bursitis.

Non-septic olecranon bursitis (NSOB) is the inflammation of the olecranon bursa, which is usually self-limiting with aseptic clinical manifestations. NSOB can be idiopathic or secondary to repetitive trauma or rheumatological conditions. Septic olecranon bursitis (SOB) is usually caused by bacterial skin colonisers, such as staphylococci and streptococci, and patients tend to present with systemic symptoms requiring medical and/or surgical interventions. Herein we present a case of disseminated cryptococcal infection stemming from bilateral septic olecranon bursitis in a previously healthy imm

Chronic Bilateral Olecranon Bursitis: A Case Report.

Olecranon bursitis is a common condition that primarily affects men between the ages of 30 and 60. Although the conservative treatment of acutely inflamed olecranon bursitis is relatively straightforward, managing chronic olecranon bursitis can be challenging. In this publication, we report a case of rare bilateral chronic olecranon bursitis and discuss the rationale for choosing the best treatment option.
