All Arthroscopic Decompression and Bone Grafting of Cyst in the Talus.

INTRODUCTION: A talar cyst is a fluid-filled sac in the talus bone, often caused by chronic stress fractures or traumatic injuries. A talar cyst if left untreated can result in chondromalacia of talus cartilage and ultimately arthritis. A timely intervention of cyst can have very good prognosis. An open cyst decompression and bone grafting is a standard procedure followed, but it is more invasive and sometimes involves medial malleolus osteotomy. If the same is done by arthroscopy, the morbidity of open procedure can be avoided. CASE REPORT: A 34-year-old male complaining of pain in the ankle

Intradural dorsal arteriovenous fistula: a case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Intradural dorsal arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare spinal vascular malformation that primarily affects the blood-supplying arteries of the intradural dorsal. Its clinical manifestations are dominated by bilateral lower limb weakness and a lack of specificity in early symptoms, which can easily lead to underdiagnosis or misdiagnosis. Thus, the successful diagnosis of intradural dorsal AVF is difficult. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 56-year-old woman presented with lower limb weakness for 3 months without significant sensory deficits. The patient has a history of hyperthyroidism, but the

Transtibial Pull-Out Repair of a Chronic Medial Meniscal Posterior Root Tear With All-Suture Knotless Centralization.

BACKGROUND: Medial meniscus posterior root tears (MMPRTs) are a common form of meniscal tear and are increasingly recognized as one of the most detrimental insults to knee health. Root repairs have mainly focused on reestablishing the biomechanics of the medial knee compartment and preventing joint deterioration; however, meniscal extrusion persists even after the best root repairs and remains an independent risk factor for knee degeneration. Furthermore, chronic MMPRTs are more likely to be associated with significant extrusion, chondromalacia, and fibrotic changes, which make successful repa

Elucidate the quantitative early diagnostic indicators of mild chondromalacia patella: ratios of trochlear sulcus angle to patellar and trochlear widths.

BACKGROUND: Chondromalacia patella (CMP) is often exacerbated by anatomical variations in patellofemoral engagement, and there are currently no sensitivity early diagnostic indicators for mild CMP. This study focused on the relationship between normal patellofemoral joint parameters and mild CMP, aiming to provide a more accurate scientific basis for the early diagnosis and treatment of CMP by studying new quantitative ratios as early diagnostic indicators. METHODS: The study involved 100 patients with mild CMP (modified Noyes grade 1 and 2A) and 100 healthy volunteers (controls) who underwen

Rimplasty: An Arthroscopic Technique for Patients With Isolated Patellar Chondromalacia Based on Autologous Matrix-induced Chondrogenesis+ and Limited Trochleoplasty.

Anterior knee pain is a common problem that can be difficult to treat. One potential cause of these symptoms is supratrochlear rim, which has been linked to isolated patellar chondromalacia in patients with patella alta and without any history of patellar dislocation or subluxation. In cases where the rim does not exceed 3 mm, the rim resection technique was previously described. This technical note outlines rimplasty, an arthroscopic technique addressing the biomechanical etiology of patellar chondromalacia by modifying patellofemoral joint kinematics and reconstructing patellar cartilage. Patella Alta on X-Ray and MRI: Diagnostic Agreement and Clinical Correlations.

Background/Objectives: Patella alta contributes to patellofemoral (PF) maltracking and anterior knee pain, but the agreement of patellar-height indices across imaging modalities and their clinical relevance remain uncertain. We aimed to estimate the prevalence of patella alta when using each index, quantify inter-method agreement, and quantify patella alta's associations with Hoffa's fat-pad impingement, patellar chondromalacia, and tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance. Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study included 250 patients aged 18-38 years who underwent both knee

Delayed Diagnosis of Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head After a Minor Running Injury in a Healthy 28-Year-Old Man: A Case Report.

Osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis, AVN) of the femoral head in young adults is typically associated with high-energy trauma, corticosteroids, or alcohol abuse. Early disease is typically radiographically occult. We report a case of a previously healthy 28-year-old man who developed persistent right hip pain following a minimal twisting trauma while running. Initially obtained hip radiographs at an outside facility immediately following the trauma were interpreted as normal; the pain was considered to represent a soft tissue injury, and the patient underwent only a brief course of physical ther
