INTRODUCTION: Augmentation rhinoplasty is one of five aesthetic surgeries in the world. Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) has been reported as a rational choice to augment the nasal dorsum and tip. However, its application for nasal tip augmentation has some debates. This study presented a technique using ePTFE grafts combined with human acellular dermis matrix (HADM) to reconstruct a deformed nose caused by previous rhinoplasties.
METHODS: 50 female patients who came to the hospital from 08/2022 to 09/2022 for surgical revision of their nasal deformity. ePTFE was applied to reconstruc

Orthognathic surgery affects both function and aesthetics. An important aesthetic complication is the nasal alteration that can result from Le Fort I osteotomy. A common method for countering this complication is the alar base cinch suture technique. Although the method for this suture has been standardized, the results vary and are inconsistent; further improvements are therefore required. The objective of this study was to review the literature data on the alar base cinch suture technique and associated results. In this review, the PubMed, Ovid, and Ichushi-Web electronic databases were sear

BACKGROUND: The variety of noses in the mixed Saudi population keeps rhinoplasty surgeons on their toes. The main treatment goal for drooping nose tips is the first rotation of the nasal tip superiorly. Although droopy nose is a common disease in Saudi Arabia, none of the previous studies recognized the general features of droopy nose.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of 352 patients with nasal drooping nose from 2016 to 2022. The main outcome measurements were general characteristics of nasal tip ptosis, and the most common surgical techniques used to treat nasal tip ptosis in a tertiary ho

BACKGROUND: Primary or secondary dorsal augmentation rhinoplasty addresses aesthetic and functional issues related to a deficient, under-projected, or depressed nasal dorsum, frequently in middle vault. Traditional treatments often involve costal cartilage grafts, which can result in palpable irregularities and additional morbidity. Implementing dorsal preservation techniques in selected patients may improve predictability and outcomes of dorsal augmentation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a case series involving 12 patients with saddle nose deformities and significant nasal function imp

Anterior and caudal deviation of the septum can severely affect a patient's functional and cosmetic outcomes, especially seen in crooked noses. Hence, extracorporeal septoplasty is often performed where an L-shaped septal replacement graft replaces the septum to restore the functionality and aesthetics of the nose. Although an L-shaped graft can be reconstructed with the help of a caliper, the exact length and angulation between the two cartilages cannot be accurately assessed intraoperatively and preoperatively and the graft needs repeated modification. In contrast, an L-shaped template can b

Introduction: Surgical rhinoplasty is a complex procedure with a high revision rate. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty (NSR) could avoid secondary rhinoplasty allowing the correction of postsurgical defects. A systematic review has been performed among adult patients who had previously undergone surgical rhinoplasty and now presenting for NSR with filler, demonstrated most common indications, fillers, and complications in this technique. Materials and Methods: A systematic review was performed according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) system guidelines.

Objectives: Crooked noses pose significant challenges in rhinoplasty due to their complex anatomy, particularly in the bony vault. Traditional methods focus on osteotomies but often do not equalize the lengths of the nasal bones. This study introduces a novel technique using otologic drills to address this problem by shortening the longer nasal bone and aligning the nasion-rhinion line at the midline. Methods: A Goodman incision was made to access the nasal bones under general anesthesia. Otologic drills were used for lateral and transverse ostectomies to shorten the longer nasal bone and repo

Reprojecting the severely damaged nose is a challenging operation fraught with pitfalls. This panel discussion covers 6 fundamental questions answered by 3 surgeons, each with decades of experience. Discussion points include management of the 3 components necessary for successful reconstruction-the soft tissue envelope, the support structure, and the internal lining. The authors also discuss how their practices have changed in the last few years.

Many failures in total or subtotal nasal reconstruction result from an underestimation of the amount of skin required for an adequate result, especially for sufficient lining. Such planning errors usually lead to poor results, with exposure of structural grafts, infection, scar retraction, airway obstruction, and finally loss of projection and shape of the reconstructed nose. Reconstruction options for cases in which previous attempts have failed are always limited, as well as in cases of trauma or burns affecting the soft tissues of the forehead and face. In such complex situations, one may e

Rhinoplasty is undergoing a transformation with the reemergence of dorsal preservation rhinoplasty (DPR) techniques. This article introduces a novel addition to the DPR repertoire, "bony dorsal preservation" (BDP), which has particular application for the correction of crooked noses. This comprehensive overview summarizes current DPR concepts and techniques, the intricate considerations that go into the dorsal osseocartilaginous vault and septal management, and how these are modified to treat the crooked nose. However, current DPR techniques, particularly the low septal strip (LSS), have drawba

AIM: Due to the diversity and complexity of tissues involved in secondary nasal deformities following unilateral cleft lip, secondary nasal deformity correction surgeries are challenging and often yield unsatisfactory results, posing a difficult problem for plastic surgeons. Autologous cartilage, with its low sculpting difficulty, minimal absorption, and stable tissue compatibility, is considered the optimal material for reconstructing the columella, nasal tip, and alar. This study analyzed the clinical outcomes of using autologous cartilage to create a Y-shaped columella to correct secondary

BACKGROUND: Restoration of a straight and adequately wide nasal dorsum is challenging in patients with deviated noses. Supporting a reformed septum with an extended spreader graft (ESG) is important for maintaining position.
OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to describe different types of ESG and propose a comprehensive algorithm for using specific types of ESGs in rhinoplasty according to the particular type of deviated nose. It was also intended to retrospectively evaluate the long-term cosmetic results and satisfaction levels of patients who underwent rhinoplasty using different forms of ESG.

INTRODUCTION: The main goals of septorhinoplasty are to correct cosmetic and functional defects, which may occur in a patient with no history of previous trauma. As the most prominent facial feature, the nose has an increased risk of injury. Nasal fracture may eventually result in significant defects; posing challenges to the surgeon.
AIM: The aim of the study is to compare the technique used in post-traumatic and non -traumatic cases of rhinoplasties.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study group consisted of 227 patients, mean age 37.511.4 years, median 36 years, age range from 18 to 79 years. St

The asymmetric nose is challenging for even the most experienced rhinoplasty surgeons. It has often been referred to as the crooked, twisted, and deviated nose and describes any nose that has deviation of the nasal dorsum and pyramid from the facial midline. This article summarizes the senior author's (SPM) approach and application of structural and preservation concepts to correct the underlying causes of the crooked nose.

Objective: Rhinoplasty aims to create a nose in harmony with an ideal face, help patients with specific aesthetic concerns, and improve the nose's function. So, learning all types of deformities and rhinoplasty procedures is essential to solving that particular problem. So, we aimed to point at a neglected nasal deformity to serve as a guide in short nose rhinoplasty. Methods: Hereditary factors usually determine the length of a nose, such as cephalo-caudal patterning. Nowadays, individuals who want a change on their nose neglect whether it suits their face. Therefore, a considerable change ma

OBJECTIVES: Nasal septal deviation can cause nasal breathing issues, contribute to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) development, and often hinders successful CPAP therapy. We hypothesized that although prevalent in the general population, nasal septal deviations differ structurally between OSA and non-OSA patients. This study evaluated nasal septal deviation morphology in OSA versus non-OSA patients using computed tomography (CT).
METHODS: We consecutively enrolled 128 adult patients undergoing septoplasty for nasal obstruction between April and September 2019. Seven with trauma/surgery history
