Anatomical landmarks and procedure technique of Levator Scapulae Plane Block (LeSP block): Case report: Ultrasound-guided block of the superficial, deep and distal planes of the levator scapulae muscle for treatment of shoulder girdle myofascial pain.

Neck pain is a prevalent issue associated with musculoskeletal disorders. This study describes the interfascial Levator Scapulae Plane Block (LeSP Block) technique, using ultrasound guidance for local anesthetic administration to treat chronic neck pain. Two patients, 1 77-year-old female and 1 50-year-old female, underwent the LeSP Block. Immediate postprocedure pain relief was achieved in both, with 1 patient experiencing complete pain remission (VAS = 0) and the other showing significant improvement (VAS = 2) after 30 days. The LeSP Block demonstrated effectiveness and ease of use, suggesti

Comparing effectiveness of 3-needle approach versus 5-needle approach of genicular nerve block on pain and quality of life in chronic osteoarthritis of knee: a double blinded randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Knee osteoarthritis [KOA] is a common musculoskeletal disorder that is characterized by degeneration of the articular cartilage and the subchondral bone. It leads to pain and functional limitations in the joint. Genicular Nerve Blocks [GNB] or Genicular Nerve Radiofrequency Ablation [GNRFA] are pain-reducing procedures that can be used in such patients. Newer and more accurate anatomical landmarks for genicular nerves are being identified. More named genicular nerves are also being targeted for better pain relief. OBJECTIVES: To compare the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided genic

Efficacy and Safety Evaluation of Bilateral Pedicle Approach Combined with Positional Reduction for the Treatment of Osteoporotic Thoracolumbar Burst Fractures.

BACKGROUND: Osteoporotic thoracolumbar burst fractures (OTLBF) pose challenges for vertebroplasty due to the risk of cement leakage and spinal injury resulting from the fracture of the posterior vertebra and spinal canal occupancy. It limits the application of vertebroplasty in these patients. OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the efficacy and safety of a bilateral pedicle approach combined with postural reduction for treating OTLBF using vertebroplasty. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirteen patients (aged ≥ 65 years) with thoracolumbar fractures without neurological deficits underwent vertebropla

Aneurysmal bone cyst: Is selective arterial embolization effective as curettage and bone grafting?

INTRODUCTION: Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a lytic benign bone lesion representing about 1% of all primary bone tumors. Method to treat ABC's have developed over time. The standard of care cure for ABC has been curettage with or without bone grafting of the defect but is burdened by recurrence rates of approximately 25%-31%. Based on the assumption that ABCs usually supplied by one or more pathological feeding arteries, selective arterial embolization has been described as an adjuvant preoperative procedure to reduce intra-operative hemorrhage, and as primary treatment for lesions in difficul

Deep Brain Stimulation for an Unusual Presentation of Myoclonus Dystonia Associated with Russell-Silver Syndrome.

BACKGROUND: Myoclonus dystonia syndrome typically results from autosomal dominant mutations in the epsilon-sarcoglycan gene (SGCE) via the paternally expressed allele on chromosome 7q21. There is evidence that deep brain stimulation (DBS) is beneficial for this genotype, however, there are few prior case reports on DBS for myoclonus dystonia syndrome secondary to other confirmed genetic etiologies. CASE REPORT: A 20-year-old female with concomitant Russell-Silver syndrome and myoclonus dystonia syndrome secondary to maternal uniparental disomy of chromosome 7 (mUPD7) presented for medically r

End-on versus parallel radiofrequency lesioning for neurotomy of the cervical medial branch nerves: a study protocol of a prospective, randomized, double-blind clinical trial: the "EndPaRL" study.

BACKGROUND: Cervical facet joint disease is a common source of neck pain and its prevalence increases with aging. Conservative multimodal management options (e.g., strengthening of neck muscles, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, massage, and thermal modalities) often fail to relieve pain. Cervical medial branch nerve (CMBN) radiofrequency neurotomy (RFN) is an effective minimally invasive technique for treating chronic neck pain secondary to facet joint disease. An end-on approach for this procedure has been proposed that may be technically easier and require less time while reducin

Ultrasound-guided lymph node biopsy sampling to study the immunopathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis: a well-tolerated valuable research tool.

BACKGROUND: Analyses of lymphoid organs are required to further elucidate the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Yet, invasive tissue collection methods are scarcely applied, because they are often considered burdensome, although patients do not always consider invasive methods as a high burden. We aimed to investigate the perspectives of study participants undergoing ultrasound-guided inguinal lymph node (LN) needle biopsy sampling and determine the molecular and cellular quantity and quality of LN biopsies. METHODS: Together with patient research partners,

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Autologous Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells in the Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain Due to Severe Lumbar Spinal Degeneration: A 12-Month, Open-Label, Prospective Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Regenerative medicine interventions are applied to assist in the repair, and to potentially replace or restore damaged tissue through the use of autologous/allogenic biologics and it continues to expand. The anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and regenerative properties of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs), and investigation into their therapeutic efficacy and safety in patients with severe chronic low back pain, have not been demonstrated in controlled studies. Multiple pain generators have been hypothesized to be responsible in severe spinal degeneration and it is di
