A retrospective study was conducted on the clinical data of male patients who developed complications after artificial urethral sphincter (AUS) implantation at Beijing Hospital from March 2019 to December 2024. The study evaluated the occurrence, management, and outcomes of these complications. Among the 72 patients who underwent AUS implantation, 10 patients (13.9%), aged 27-85 (64.9±19.4) years old, experienced complications following AUS implantation. Two patients developed painless gross hematuria, which improved after symptomatic treatment. Two patients involved control pump erosion throu

INTRODUCTION: Retrocaval ureter, or circumcaval ureter, is a rare congenital anomaly where the ureter passes behind the inferior vena cava (IVC), occurring in 0.13 % of the population. While symptoms can occur at any age, they typically arise in the third or fourth decade of life, making the case of our six-year-old patient rare and distinctive.
CASE PRESENTATION: A six-year-old male presented with isolated right flank pain and a medical history of hypothyroidism and epilepsy. Despite normal laboratory tests and no urinary symptoms, renal ultrasonography revealed severe right hydronephrosis.

Bladder cancer commonly presents with haematuria, but its clinical features can vary, and unusual presentations may delay diagnosis. Papillary urothelial carcinoma (PUC) is a frequent subtype, typically arising from the bladder urothelium. While most cases are detected through standard urological symptoms and imaging, the presence of extensive urethral and bladder calculi can obscure the underlying pathology. We describe a 45-year-old man with a history of recurrent urinary stone passage who presented with haematuria following expulsion of a large urethral calculus. Examination revealed palpab

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Radical nephroureterectomy is the standard of care for management of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC), but treatment-associated morbidity is not uncommon. Intracavitary therapy has emerged as a less invasive alternative for selected cases, particularly carcinoma in situ (CIS) and low-grade papillary tumors. We conducted a systematic review to evaluate the outcomes, recurrence rates, and adverse events associated with intracavitary therapy (immunotherapy or chemoablation) for UTUC.
METHODS: The review protocol was registered on PROSPERO and adhered to PRISMA gu

A male patient with pectus carinatum and spine scoliosis deformity presented with a 7-day history of recurrent episodes of nausea, vomiting and abdominal distention. He reported a weight loss of about 10 kg in the last 6 months and an altered eating habit. The contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen revealed a significant compression of the third part of the duodenum, reduced the aortomesenteric distance and left renal vein compression between the abdominal aorta and superior mesenteric artery. A diagnosis of superior mesenteric artery syndrome with nutcracker syndrome was made. The patient's symp

INTRODUCTION: The urachus is a fetal canal that connects the allantois to the bladder and typically obliterates by the 6th month of gestation. Failure of the urachus to obliterate can result in urachal anomalies, which, in rare cases, may undergo malignant transformation.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of a 13-year-old female who experienced hematuria, dysuria, and abdominal pain persisting for over 4 months. A CT scan revealed a mass extending from the bladder wall, involving an adjacent bowel loop, and associated with intra-abdominal lymphadenopathy. Debulking surgery was performed, a

Leukocyte Adhesion Defects (LADs) are a group of rare autosomal recessive immune disorders characterized by constitutional defects in the process of leukocyte migration. Among these, LAD-III is the rarest, with only a few cases documented in scientific literature. It is caused by mutations in the FERMT3 gene, impairing integrin function in both white blood cells and platelets. Thus, patients exhibit a variable degree of immunodeficiency along with a severe bleeding tendency referred to as "Glanzmann-like", due to dysfunctional platelet GPIIb/IIIa. The diagnosis of LAD-III is typically made in

Here, we report a female (aged 1 year and 8 months) who presented with recurrent skin lesions, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, and fever. She was diagnosed initially with systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis with mild anemia, thrombocytopenia, hypocomplementemia, massive proteinuria, and hematuria. Antinuclear antibodies and a Coombs test were positive. Leukocytosis and monocytosis in peripheral blood, and hypergammaglobulinemia were also noted, which are consistent with the extremely rare RAS-associated leukoproliferative disease (RALD). Whole-exome sequencing revealed co-exi

Schistosomiasis is an uncommon disease in European countries, such as Poland. However, the rare occurrence of this disease in the modern era, which is characterized by increased opportunities for migration, may start to pose a risk over time due to the diagnosis of this condition in patients who have imported it from its endemic areas. We report the case of a 9-year-old boy of Cameroonian origin who recently resided in Poland and who presented with recurrent hematuria, abdominal pain, and eosinophilia. Persistent symptoms and comprehensive diagnostics revealed Schistosoma haematobium infection

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) is a multisystem endocrine disorder marked by tumors of the parathyroids, pancreatic islet cells, and pituitary gland. Although most cases are inherited through an autosomal dominant pattern, a proportion arises through sporadic mutation. As the clinical presentation is highly variable, it often leads to diagnostic delay in patients with de novo mutations. We report a 48-year-old man with no family history and a past medical history of renal calculi with intermittent hematuria. Over several months, he had multiple hospitalizations due to progressive e

BACKGROUND: Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by trematode parasites of the genus Schistosoma. Female genital schistosomiasis (FGS), most often due to S. haematobium, is underdiagnosed and rarely involves the vulva. Its nonspecific manifestations frequently cause misdiagnosis in resource-limited settings. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a 27-year-old multiparous Somali woman with an 11-month history of recurrent vulvar itching, persistent lesions, dyspareunia, and vaginal discharge. She was initially misdiagnosed with vaginal candidiasis without improvement. Examination revea

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a rare but severe viral hemorrhagic disease transmitted to humans through tick bites or contact with the blood, tissues or secretions of infected animals. CCHF can lead to widespread endothelial damage and immune dysfunction, resulting in severe hemorrhagic manifestations and various complications. Although the majority of patients recover without permanent sequelae, unexpected complications such as secondary bacterial infections may rarely occur during the acute phase or convalescence. In this report, the case of a 42-year-old female patient who devel

INTRODUCTION: Urethral polyps (UPs) are rare benign urethral tumours that may cause significant bladder outlet obstruction or remain asymptomatic for many years. Although uncommon, UPs must be considered in paediatric patients with persistence of lower urinary tract symptoms or mild ultrasound dilation. Thus, we retrospectively reviewed our experience in UP diagnosed in our Paediatric Urology Division.
CASE PRESENTATION: We enrolled three paediatric cases of UP, including one associated with Noonan syndrome and one with Down syndrome, underscoring diagnostic challenges in syndromic cases. Pat

Lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) of the bladder is a rare variant of urothelial carcinoma that histologically resembles lymphoepithelioma of the nasopharynx. Due to its rarity, prognostic outcomes and optimal treatment strategies remain unclear. We present the case of a 60-year-old male who presented with gross hematuria. Imaging revealed an anterior bladder wall mass. The patient underwent transurethral resection of a papillary lesion located at the bladder dome, with histopathological evaluation confirming LELC. He received neoadjuvant chemotherapy; however, follow-up cystoscopy revea

UNLABELLED: DNA methylation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury(I/R) and the I/R injury can be combated effectively by ischemia preconditioning (IPC), but the role is DNA methylation in this process is unknown. In this study, we uncovered the role of ischemic preconditioning (IPC)- mediated cardioprotection of rat myocardium by using a Langendorff rat heart model with 30 min of ischemia followed by 60 min of reperfusion. Heart conditioned with short cycles of ischemia and reperfusion (IPC procedure) prior to I/R protocol significantly reduced the

BACKGROUND: Renal vascular injuries, like renal artery pseudoaneurysms and arteriovenous fistulas, are rare but serious complications following renal procedures and trauma. Standard management requires costly microcatheters for angioembolization. This study investigates a cost-effective method using diagnostic catheters and affordable coils in a low-resource setting.
METHODS: We analyzed five patients from December 2023 to June 2024 who had persistent hematuria or hemoglobin drops after renal intervention or trauma. CT angiography identified their injuries, and angioembolization was performed
