To investigate the presence of intraglomerular immunoprotein deposition in chronic pyelonephritis (CPN), 29 renal specimens from patients with various urological diseases were examined by immunofluorescence. The relationship between immunohistological findings and types of glomerular changes which were classified according to Heptinstall's criteria was studied. Forty-two patients with a radiologically confirmed diagnosis of chronic pyelonephritis were treated with 1 g carindacillin every 6 hours over a period of 6 weeks. Tranexamic acid is a potent antifibrinolytic drug frequently used in the treatment of haematuria and a number of other haemorrhagic conditions. Since it is eliminated mainly in the urine, the drug accumulates in patients with uraemia. The excretion of tranexamic acid in patients with renal failure has been investigated and dosage recommendations are given for tranexamic acid therapy in cases of renal failure.

Description of 23 patients (21 women, 2 men) with an average age of 36.6 (19--68) years, who were hypokalemic during 6.5 years on the average (range 1/2--16 years).
