The retrospective cohort study comprised 97 Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN) and BEN-suspected patients discovered in 1971 in the field examination in the village of Sopić, one of the regions most frequently affected by the disease. Our aim was to determine the outcome of the disease in patients and to compare the survival of BEN-suspected and BEN-manifested patients and the survival of their kidneys. We describe a case of TINU Syndrome. A 17 year-old girl presented four weeks after an acute tubulo-interstitial nephritis with renal failure a bilateral anterior uveitis. Renal function improved spontaneously. Investigation failed to reveal systemic or infectious diseases. The treatment with oral and topical corticosteroids was successful for the uveitis.

A 17-year-old boy with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis presented with jaundice, confusion, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute renal failure secondary to titer-confirmed acute Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).
