Dual Challenge of a Cecoureterocele with Calculus: A rare case report.

Ureteroceles are the most prevalent urinary tract malformations in humans. Only 5% of ureteroceles are predicted to prolapse and it usually occurs in childhood. We outline the clinical history, radiological results, and a potential course of treatment for this challenging condition. A 32-year-old female checked herself into our institution with complaints of burning urination and 20 years of complaints of urethral ballooning when urinating. Initial sonographic evaluation revealed that at the left vesicoureteric junction, a cystic lesion extends into the bladder, with a hyperechoic focus causin

Intravesical Infection Stones Caused by Magnetic Beads.

The presence of an intravesical foreign body is a rare condition concerning the diseases of the urinary system. Intravesical foreign bodies may cause hematuria and bladder perforation, which are difficult to diagnose and treat. There are various types of foreign bodies in the bladder; however, magnetic beads are rare. Multiple beads may be inserted into the urethra. A few small magnetic beads may be removed from the urethra, but an open removal is an option for many or large beads because of calculus adherence. This case reports the successful open removal of 57 magnetic beads with calculus ad

Angiomatous Urethral Caruncle After Ureteroscopy: A Case Report.

Urethral caruncle is a rare condition. Although relatively common in postmenopausal women, its occurrence after a urological endoscopic procedure is unusual. Here, we report the case of a postmenopausal woman who presented with a symptomatic urethral caruncle two weeks after a ureteroscopy for a right ureteral calculus. Treatment consisted of surgical excision of the mass after the failure of local estrogen application, and the postoperative aesthetic and functional result was satisfactory. Through a review of the literature, the etiological, diagnostic, and therapeutic aspects of this patholo

[Diagnosis and treatment of four cases of asymptomatic and non-hydrous ureteral calculi].

This paper analyzed the clinical data, diagnosis and treatment of 4 asymptomatic patients with ureteral calculi without hydrops in our hospital from October 2018 to January 2019, and comprehensively discussed the previous literature. The 4 patients in this group had no obvious clinical symptoms, no positive stones were found in the B-ultrasound of the urinary system, and no hydroureter and hydroureter of the affected side was found. Urinary CT scan confirmed ureteral stones. They were all located in the lower ureter, and the stones obstructed the lumen. The stones were round and smooth, and th

10-cm mature cystic teratoma of the bladder in 48-year-old female misdiagnosed as bladder calculus: Management with robotic partial cystectomy.

Cystic teratomas are a common ovarian neoplasm that are rarely found in other locations of the body, namely the sacrococcygeal region and anterior mediastinum. Localization to the urinary bladder is exceedingly rare, with only a few cases documented in the literature. Cystic teratomas are usually asymptomatic and found incidentally, but localization to the bladder can present as irritative lower urinary tract symptoms and/or mimic urinary tract calculi. We report the rare case of a mature cystic teratoma of the urinary bladder, presenting as foul-smelling urine with recurrent urinary tract inf

HydroZitLa inhibits calcium oxalate stone formation in nephrolithic rats and promotes longevity in nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.

Low fluid intake, low urinary citrate excretion, and high oxidative stress are main causative factors of calcium oxalate (CaOx) nephrolithiasis. HydroZitLa contains citrate and natural antioxidants and is developed to correct these three factors simultaneously. Antioxidants theoretically can prolong the lifespan of organisms. In this study, we preclinically investigated the antilithogenic, lifespan-extending and anti-aging effects of HydroZitLa in HK-2 cells, male Wistar rats, and Caenorhabditis elegans. HydroZitLa significantly inhibited CaOx crystal aggregation in vitro and reduced oxidative

Do men with bladder stones benefit from treatment of benign prostatic obstruction?

OBJECTIVE: To identify whether men aged ≥40 years with bladder stones (BS) benefit from treatment of benign prostatic obstruction (BPO). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A regional, retrospective study of patients undergoing BS surgery between January 2011 and December 2018 was performed using a prospectively collected database. The primary outcome was BS recurrence after successful removal. Kruskal-Wallis and chi-squared statistical tests were used. RESULTS: A total of 174 patients underwent BS removal and 71 (40.8%) were excluded due to BS formation secondary to causes other than BPO. Hence, 103 men

Evolving Role of Silodosin for the Treatment of Urological Disorders - A Narrative Review.

Use of α-androgenic receptor blockers remains a mainstay therapeutic approach for the treatment of urological diseases. Silodosin is recommended over other α-blockers for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), due to its high α1A uroselectivity. Current research data suggest that silodosin is efficacious in the management of various urological diseases. Thus, we herein review the current evidence of silodosin related to its efficacy and tolerability and appraise the available literature that might ultimately aid in management of various urol

The Impact of Water and Other Fluids on Pediatric Nephrolithiasis.

Pediatric nephrolithiasis cases have been on the rise in the past several years, resulting in increased healthcare costs and other burdens on the juveniles with this ailment. Recent research has shown that present trends in pediatric nephrolithiasis have changed as a result of fluid intake, including water consumption, nutrition, obesity prevalence, lifestyle, and imaging procedures. A specific cause, meanwhile, is still elusive. Trends in pediatric nephrolithiasis need to be thoroughly researched. Furthermore, variables specific to pediatric nephrolithiasis that could cause greater difficulti
