Colovesical and rectovesical fistulas are relatively rare, and there is no consensus on the gold standard for diagnostic workup and treatment. Here we retrospectively analyzed clinical courses from four patients with colovesical or rectovesical fistulas diagnosed at our hospital between January 2024 and December 2024. Among the four cases, three were male, and one was female. Fever was the chief complaint in three of the four cases, and sigmoid diverticulitis was identified as the underlying disease in two cases. All patients underwent abdominal plain CT scan and cystoscopy. CT scan revealed i

BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic abdominal cervical cerclage (LACC) is a well-established intervention for cervical insufficiency. Long-term complications involving delayed band migration and erosion into adjacent viscera are exceptionally rare; the most frequently reported site is the urinary bladder. To the best of our knowledge, complete erosion into the intestinal lumen has not been previously reported. This report describes a case of complete cerclage band erosion into the rectal lumen, later complicated by recto-uterine fistula formation, and highlights the associated diagnostic and management c

INTRODUCTION: Intravesical foreign bodies may remain silent until secondary complications occur. Rectovesical fistula caused by an intravesical foreign body is rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 69-year-old man presented with urinary frequency and abdominal distension. Computed tomography revealed a 70.8-mm vesical calculus encasing an approximately 8-cm plastic object, with bilateral hydroureteronephrosis and suspected rectal involvement. Cystoscopic evaluation was limited by the massive calculus. Intravesical indigo carmine appeared from the rectum, and colonoscopy confirmed a foreign body protrudi

BACKGROUND: Radiotherapy is a crucial treatment modality for gynecological malignancies. However, managing its long-term complications, such as ureteral strictures and uretero-arterial fistulas, is challenging. These complications often lead to recurrent hematuria, infections, and renal function impairment. Traditional ureteral stent placement has limited efficacy, particularly for complex cases involving vascular complications, which frequently necessitate surgical intervention.
OBJECTIVE: To summarize the management of complex cases involving bilateral ureteral strictures combined with ilia

BACKGROUND: Intestinal tuberculosis (ITB) most commonly involves the ileocecal region. Isolated sigmoid colonic tuberculosis complicated by a colovesical fistula is extremely rare and may closely mimic colorectal malignancy or Crohn's disease (CD).
CASE PRESENTATION: A 73-year-old man presented with subacute diarrhea, fever, and lower urinary tract symptoms. Laboratory tests showed markedly elevated inflammatory markers and anemia. Cross-sectional imaging demonstrated segmental thickening of the sigmoid colon, pericolic lymphadenopathy, multiple serous effusions, and findings consistent with

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is characterized by the formation of an abnormal connection between the bladder and the vagina, leading to continuous, involuntary leakage of urine through the vaginal canal. For patients with inoperable fistulas, individualized urinary diversion becomes necessary to alleviate incontinence and pelvic pain, thereby enhancing the patient's quality of life. This pilot study aims to evaluate the feasibility and clinical benefits of an innovative use of single-J (SJ) stents in conjunction with bladder stomas for palliative management of VVF s

BACKGROUND: Colovesical fistula (CVF) is an uncommon but serious complication most often linked to diverticular disease of the colon. Its diagnosis can be at times challenging as the symptoms are nonspecific, and timely intervention is crucial to avoid morbidity.
CASE SUMMARY: A 65-year-old Indian male was admitted with right lower limb cellulitis and was in septic shock. Despite initial management, he remained oliguric with persistent loose stools. On post-fasciotomy day 4, fecaluria was noted, prompting suspicion of a bowel-urinary tract fistula. Microscopic urine examination confirmed feca

A male patient in his 60s presented with painful penile swelling, sepsis and incomplete bladder emptying. Further questioning revealed a decade-old retained urethral foreign body, later confirmed to be a cable segment. CT confirmed a large linear urethral foreign body in the distal penile urethra with a metallic core with suspected surrounding calcification. Endoscopic extraction was not deemed possible, and a suprapubic catheter was inserted to enable bladder emptying and divert urine away from the infected tissues. A delayed surgical removal of the foreign body was favoured to enable tissue

This report involves a 45-year-old female who developed continuous vaginal urinary leakage due to a right uretero-vesico-vaginal fistula (UVVF) following laparoscopic hysterectomy. Her history included sleeve gastrectomy and pancreatoduodenectomy, complicating repair due to adhesions and limited omental availability. Diagnostic workup involved contrast-enhanced CT, pelvic MRI, cystoscopy, and retrograde studies confirming distal ureteral defect and fistula. After 3 months of urinary diversion via percutaneous nephrostomy, a single-stage robotic-assisted repair was performed using a transperito

Urachal diverticulum is the rarest form of urachal anomalies, accounting for ˂5% of cases. It results from incomplete obliteration of the internal end of the urachus, forming a blind internal fistula communicating with the bladder. It is usually asymptomatic but may become complicated by infection. We report the case of a 4-year-old boy admitted for a painful umbilical swelling, clinically diagnosed as a strangulated umbilical hernia. During the procedure, a tubular structure attached to the umbilicus was identified and dissected; it was found to communicate with the bladder dome, consistent w

AIM: To report our experience with laparoscopic-assisted anorectoplasty (LAARP) for anorectal malformations (ARM) performed without ligation of the rectourinary fistula (RUF).
METHODS: In this single-center study, we retrospectively analyzed all consecutive primary LAARP procedures for ARM without RUF ligation performed between 2004 and 2022. Forty patients were included (19 rectobulbar, 16 rectoprostatic, 5 rectobladder). Colostomy was performed at a median age of 1 day and LAARP at 147 days (median weight 6 kg). Median operative time was 180 minutes, and 1 patient required conversion. No ea

Fistulizing diverticulitis is an uncommon and aggressive manifestation of diverticular disease. Most patients develop a single fistula; multiple synchronous fistulae are less commonly reported. We present a case of a 55-year-old man with a history of anorectal fistula repair who presented with recurrent abdominal pain, urinary symptoms, and weight loss. Imaging revealed complicated sigmoid diverticulitis with multiple fistulae involving the bladder, rectum, and abdominal wall. Initial management included abscess drainage and a diverting transverse loop colostomy, which successfully controlled

BACKGROUND: We report Bladder Turn-in & Epispadias Repair (TIER) as a first step of two-staged Bladder Exstrophy repair.
TECHNIQUE: Circumferential incision was made around the bladder and urethral plate. Penis was degloved and corporal bodies were mobilised. The epispadiac urethra and spongiosa were dissected off the corporal bodies leaving the frenulum and prepuce attached to hemi-glans. Perineal muscle was identified by muscle stimulator and wrapped around the bladder neck. Bladder was closed leaving reimplantation/bladder neck repair to second stage. The neourethra was tubularised and mea

BACKGROUND: Pediatric lymphoma rarely arises from or initially presents as a solitary urogenital mass. Because imaging features often resemble those of primary genitourinary malignancies, misdiagnosis may lead to unnecessary radical organ resection.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical features, diagnostic challenges, and treatment outcomes of children with lymphoma initially presenting as a genitourinary lesion, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and a systematic, stepwise diagnostic approach-one that optimizes evaluation to avoid missed diagnoses while minimizing unnecessary rad

A paediatric patient was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), with biallelic mutations in the transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α (C/EBPα). During her treatment, she developed recurrent episodes of febrile neutropenia with neutropenic colitis, leading to the development of an appendicovesical fistula (AVF) with drainage of feculent urine. She underwent laparotomy, division of the fistula with a wide margin of the bladder with repair, with appendicectomy which essentially cured the condition. This case report illustrated the unusual occurrence of AVF in a paediatric p

BACKGROUND: Puberty is a crucial developmental milestone that involves significant physiological, emotional, and behavioral changes. Early puberty onset, influenced by both biological and social factors, is associated with an increased risk of engaging in substance use, such as tobacco and marijuana. While high family income is generally linked to delayed puberty onset and lower behavioral risks, these benefits may not be equally protective for Black youth due to the phenomenon of Minorities' Diminished Returns (MDRs). MDRs suggest that higher family income does not offer the same protective e

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma usually causes gastrointestinal complaints such as hematochezia or altered bowel habits. Urinary symptoms typically appear only in advanced disease. We describe an unusual case in which vesical fecaluria was the first and main symptom, mimicking recurrent urinary tract infection and risking delayed recognition of its colorectal origin.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 62-year-old man presented with more than 6 months of urinary frequency, dysuria, recurrent fever, and vesical fecaluria, which had repeatedly been treated as a urinary tract infectio

BACKGROUND: Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is a major cause of morbidity with severe socio-economic consequences affecting the quality of life of women and their families. Prolonged obstructed labour remains the leading cause of VVF in sub-Saharan African and Southeast Asia. However, in rare cases VVF can occur spontaneously without an identifiable cause.
CASE PRESENTATION: In this report we describe a case of spontaneous simple VVF measuring 2 × 2 cm in the lower third of the anterior vaginal wall in a 47-year-old Nigerian woman who is HIV-positive and on Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (H
