BACKGROUND: Urethral diverticulum (UD) may arise subsequent to hypospadias repair, potentially causing issues such as stone formation, frequent urination, urinary tract infections, urine dripping, and hematuria. We reviewed our previous experiences regarding hypospadias complications to identify the relevant factors affecting the occurrence of UD after hypospadias surgery and adjust management strategies accordingly.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 159 pediatric patients who underwent urethroplasty with disconnection of the urethral plate (DUP) in our d

PURPOSE: This study evaluated the relationship between urethral diverticulum volume (UDv), urethral sphincter complex volume (USCv), clinical and urodynamic characteristics, and surgical outcomes in women with UD.
METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on 53 female patients who underwent diverticulectomy for UD. They were divided into two groups: proximal/middle UD (pmUD, n = 43) and distal UD (dUD, n = 10). Preoperative assessments included videourodynamic study (VUDS) and magnetic resonance imaging, with a follow-up VUDS 1 month post-surgery.
RESULTS: Compared to the dUD group, pmUD

Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urinary tract (utCCA) is a rare, Müllerian-type tumor typically arising in the urethra of female patients with poorly understood pathogenesis. Here, we report the clinical, pathologic, and molecular characterization of a cohort of utCCA treated at a tertiary referral center. Cases were centrally reviewed, and immunohistochemistry and whole exome and targeted sequencing were performed. The landscape of somatic alterations was compared with ovarian and uterine clear cell carcinoma, and urothelial carcinoma. Among 35 utCCA, most patients were female (86%), and the

Urethral diverticulum (UD) during pregnancy is a rare clinical condition, with limited literature available to guide standardized management. Fewer than a dozen well-documented cases have been reported, but they reflect a wide range of clinical approaches from antenatal surgery to postpartum intervention. We report the case of a 36-year-old woman diagnosed at 34 weeks of gestation with a 5.5 cm urethral diverticulum, presenting with suprapubic pain, urinary dribbling, and green vaginal discharge. Conservative management was pursued due to obstetric concerns, including multiple uterine fibroids

Male urethral diverticulum is a rare condition that poses significant management challenges when complicated by stenosis, false passage, and urinary incontinence. We report a 31-year-old male with refractory urinary incontinence following pelvic fracture urethral injury treated by primary urethral realignment. Chronic penile clamp usage led to progressive mid-urethral diverticulum enlargement. Imaging confirmed posterior urethral stenosis, diverticulum, and a sphincter-bypassing false passage. Surgical management included false passage obliteration, end-to-end urethroplasty, and diverticulecto

Urethral diverticulum rarely occurs in a man. A 57-year-old man who underwent radical prostatectomy for prostate adenocarcinoma 9 years ago was referred for 68 Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT scan for restating due to elevated serum total prostate-specific antigen level. 68 Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT showed multiple PSMA-avid bone metastases and a focal intense activity in the anterior penis. The PSMA-avid penil lesion corresponded to a urethral diverticulum, which was initially detected on pelvic MRI 8 years ago. This case indicates that the urethral diverticulum should be included in the differential diagnosis of

Bladder calculi occur predominantly in men, and their incidence is very low in females. Female urethral calculi are even rarer and are usually associated with anatomical or pathological abnormalities. This case report describes a female patient with a giant calculus extending from the urinary bladder into the urethra, crossing the bladder neck. The patient had a three-year history of lower urinary tract symptoms before diagnosis. She was presented with acute pyelonephritis on the left side, bilateral hydronephrosis due to reflux, and recurrent urinary tract infections. An emergency cystostomy

INTRODUCTION: Hypospadias surgery has a failure rate ranging from 10% for distal cases to over 30% for proximal cases. However, real-world outcomes may be worse, as some complications emerge late in puberty or are underreported. The expectations for surgical success have evolved, shifting from basic urinary and sexual functionality to achieving a normal penile appearance. Bias in research favors retrospective studies with short follow-ups, and qualitative research remains scarce. This review describes complications following hypospadias surgery, their management, and prognosis.

INTRODUCTION: Urethral stone (US) is an uncommon disease that may be associated with other conditions. It's interesting if the patient neglected his disease after decades. This case report discusses the giant anterior urethral stone, as well as the neglect in the peripheral area.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 43-year-old man was referred to our hospital with a complaint of scrotal pain 4 days ago. He also complained about weak urine stream, a big-palpable mass, and a small opening in the scrotum that had appeared for many years. There was a history of recurrent urinary pain and purulent urine. Urethral diverticula are uncommon observations encountered in the female pelvis and arise from the posterolateral wall of the urethra. While the pathogenesis of urethral diverticula is unsettled, they are presumably multifactorial, and several theories are addressed in this case report. Various complications are associated with urethral diverticula; however, the feared association is malignant transformation into a diverticular neoplasm. This case highlights a unique instance of a urethral diverticulum complicated by mucinous adenocarcinoma, with intestinal features, in a female patient with u

Female prostatic occlusive syndrome (FPOS) is a rare condition caused by obstruction of the female urethra due to hypertrophic or cystic Skene's glands-the embryologic homologues of the male prostate. Because its clinical manifestations are nonspecific, FPOS is frequently misdiagnosed as urethral diverticulum, cystitis, or other lower urinary tract disorders, often leading to delayed or inappropriate treatment. This study aimed to characterize the MRI features of FPOS and to discuss the diagnostic challenges associated with this entity. We report the case of an 87-year-old woman who presented

AIM: Patients with anorectal malformations (ARMs) are known to have a higher association with epididymo-orchitis (EO). Congenital pouch colon (CPC), a rare subtype of ARM, presents with several predisposing factors that are presumed to be linked with EO. This study aims to investigate the occurrence of EO in this specific subgroup of ARM patients to enhance the understanding of its etiology.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: An ambispective observational study was conducted by analyzing medical records of male patients with CPC. Out of 28 patients managed primarily at our center, 25 fulfilled the inclus

Skene's gland cysts and abscesses are uncommon periurethral lesions that can cause chronic vulvar pain and lower urinary tract symptoms but are often underrecognized because their manifestations overlap with more common urological and gynecological conditions. Owing to their close anatomical relationship with the urethra, accurate preoperative diagnosis is essential to distinguish these lesions from urethral diverticulum and avoid inappropriate treatment or urethral injury. We report the case of a 25-year-old woman with a 12-month history of chronic vulvar pain and urinary symptoms. Physical e

We report a case involving an 85-year-old man who underwent laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer in 2011. During follow-up, he required long-term use of a penile clamp to manage urination due to permanent severe stress incontinence. In February 2023, he presented with a painless cystic mass in the scrotum. Upon pressing the mass with hand, fluid drained from the external urethral orifice, causing the mass to shrink in size, although it returned to its original size a few hours later. Urography and cystoscopy showed a globular urethral diverticulum located anteriorly. The pati

Skene gland abnormalities include skene gland cysts and abscess. These can be differentiated from urethral diverticulum based on clinical findings. The exact incidence of Skene gland abnormalities is unknown as they are relatively rare. They are usually seen in middle-aged female patients but have recently been reported in newborn girls. We present a video case of a large, adult-onset Skene gland cyst, which was evaluated based on clinical findings, radiological aspects and histopathological findings. The differential diagnosis was carried out step-by-step in order to avoid sequelae and comple

INTRODUCTION: Urethral diverticulum (UD) is a saccular dilatation of the urethral wall, continuous with the true urethral lumen. It is categorized etiologically into congenital and acquired. The etiology of an acquired urethral diverticulum is thought to be secondary to trauma. The gold standard imaging modalities for diagnosis of UD are retrograde urethrogram (RGU) and micturating cystourethrogram (MCU). Management options include: nonoperative treatment, minimally invasive and open surgeries. Open surgeries comprise a primary anastomosis or, Substitution urethroplasty after UD excision, with
