Making cancer support services sustainable in value-based care.

Bulking agents are used in the treatment of urinary stress incontinence associated with intrinsic sphincter deficiency. Bovine collagen remains the gold standard despite problems such as allergic reaction and absorption of the injected material. Several new products are being evaluated or used clinically to try and overcome problems linked with bovine collagen. The aim of this paper is to review the bulking agents available and to put in prospect use of these products with the recent progress made in the treatment of urinary stress incontinence. The gold standard treatment for intrinsic sphinc

Telerehabilitation in the management of urinary incontinence in women: a narrative review.

Urinary incontinence (UI) is a prevalent condition affecting millions worldwide, particularly women, with significant impacts on physical, psychological, and socioeconomic aspects of life (Haylen et al., Neurourol Urodyn 29:4–20, 2010; Aoki et al., Nat Rev Dis Primers 3:1–20, 2017). Conventional management includes behavioral therapy, pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT), and pharmacological interventions, but barriers such as social stigma, access to specialists, and poor treatment adherence persist (Nitti Rev Urol 3, 2001; Sinclair et al., Obstet Gynaecol 13:143-8, 2011; Minassian et al., 111

Factors Associated with Urinary Incontinence in Female Weightlifters.

Background/Objectives: Urinary incontinence (UI) is common among women practicing sports, particularly those involving heavy lifting or high-impact movements that increase intra-abdominal pressure. UI can negatively affect social life, self-confidence, and motivation to remain active. This study aimed to examine the associations of sociodemographic, training-related, obstetric, and surgical factors with UI in female weightlifters. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 84 French women who regularly practiced weightlifting. Participants completed a structured questionnaire collecting soci

An unusual intraoperative finding during tension-free vaginal tape surgery for stress urinary incontinence: a case report.

Stress urinary incontinence is commonly managed with tension-free vaginal tape (TVT), a highly effective mid-urethral sling procedure. We report the case of a 64-year-old woman with prior left inguinal herniorrhaphy who presented with urodynamically confirmed stress incontinence. During retropubic TVT placement, marked resistance was encountered on the left side, requiring multiple attempts before successful passage. Her postoperative course was uneventful. This unusual technical difficulty was likely related to fibrosis or mechanical interference from a prior groin mesh. The case underscores

Long-Term Outcomes of Transobturator Mid-Urethral Sling for the Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence Among Chinese Women.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Transobturator mid-urethral sling (TVT-O), a surgical treatment for stress urinary incontinence, has been shown to be highly effective in the short and medium term. However, long-term outcomes with larger sample sizes are lacking. The study is aimed at assessing the efficacy and safety of TVT-O over a 10-year follow-up period in Chinese women. METHODS: This prospective observational study included Chinese women who underwent TVT-O for urodynamic stress incontinence. Objective cure was defined as the absence of urodynamic stress incontinence on a urodynamic study,

Body Composition Modulates Risk for Stress Urinary Incontinence in Women < 60.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is prevalent among obese women. We hypothesize that body composition modulates the risk of SUI among nonobese women. METHODS: The National Health and Nutrition Examination survey, a nationally representative examination of adults in the United States, was used to test correlates for the presence of SUI in women aged 20-59 in two cohorts: (1) nonobese and (2) obese. Demographic data, medical comorbidities, body composition (measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry [DXA]), laboratory values, and macronutrient intake (24-h dietar

A decade of colpocleisis: a retrospective analysis of outcomes, complications, and long-term patient satisfaction.

BACKGROUND: Colpocleisis remains an effective yet often underutilised surgical option for advanced pelvic organ prolapse (POP), particularly in elderly women who no longer desire vaginal intercourse. Despite its long history, concerns persist regarding postoperative complications, urinary symptoms, and patient regret. This study aimed to evaluate the perioperative, long-term, and patient-reported outcomes of colpocleisis, and to identify predictors of persistent urinary incontinence. METHODS: A retrospective single-centre cohort study was conducted including 66 women aged ≥60 years who underw
