Although hydrocele is one of the most common inguinoscrotal pathologies, spermatic cord hydrocele (SCH) is a rare entity. Its development is attributed to the incomplete closure of the processus vaginalis, resulting in a collection of fluid that may either communicate with or become encysted along the spermatic cord. BACKGROUND: Funicular hydrocele is a congenital spermatic cord hydrocele caused by the partial persistence of the processus vaginalis. In infants, it may mimic an inguinal hernia clinically and radiologically, creating diagnostic uncertainty. The hydrocele of the spermatic cord is a rare anomaly, often presents as an inguinal swelling that extends to the upper scrotum. It can be encysted, funicular, or mixed. A 14-year-old male experienced painful swelling in his right groin for three weeks, which was confirmed intraoperatively to be an encysted hydrocele of the spermatic cord. The diagnosis for this condition is primarily clinical; ultrasound may also aid in confirmation. Conservative management is possible in early infancy, but surgical intervention is often necessary if the condition persists or presents late.

Encysted hydroceles are often considered rare. We report three cases of Ghanaian boys who presented with left scrotal swellings at a primary care center. This paper emphasizes the importance of primary care practitioners considering a possible clinical diagnosis of encysted spermatic cord hydroceles in new-onset scrotal swellings in children and adolescents, as such cases may not be as rare as previously thought.

A 7-year-old girl presented complaining of right groin swelling for 1 week and underwent routine examination at the emergency department. Pediatric paratesticular mass is common in pediatric surgical practice, and they could be because of an underlying encysted hydrocele, a teratoma, or an epididymal cyst. Furthermore, a malignant lesion such as rhabdomyosarcoma should be ruled out. Rare entities, such as fibrous hamartoma of infancy and cellular angiofibroma, are rarely encountered. We report two such cases of paratesticular masses with these rare pathologies.

As most of the female inguinal hernias are of indirect type, we conducted this retrospective study to evaluate whether the single port laparoscopic percutaneous internal ring suture is feasible for the management of indirect inguinal hernia in female adults. RATIONALE: Hydrocele of the canal of Nuck is a rare developmental disorder and represents of a homolog of hydrocele of spermatic cord in males. Hydrocele of the canal of Nuck is a very rare cause of inguinal swelling in female infants and children. It results from the failure of obliteration of the distal portion of evaginated parietal peritoneum within the inguinal canal, which forms a sac containing fluid.
PATIENT CONCERNS: We describe a case of hydrocele of the canal of Nuck in an 11-month-old girl with a past medical history of duodenal atresia and Arnold-Chiari malformation.

BACKGROUND: Epididymal lesions are uncommon in clinical practice. Few case series has been described in the literature documenting the role of cytology in the evaluation of epididymal nodules. This study was undertaken to analyze the cytomorphology of epididymal nodules and to evaluate role of fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in early definitive diagnosis of epididymal nodules.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of seventy cases of epididymal nodules were aspirated over a period of 6 years in the Department of Pathology. These cases were taken from the cytology record as a part of this study.
