BACKGROUND: Guidelines for the management of genital Lichen sclerosus (LS) have recently been updated.

Eight elderly patients (average age 76.1±4.3 years) with balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) accompanied by phimosis presented with difficulty in urination. We reviewed the current literature on lichen sclerosus as it related to urethral stricture disease using MEDLINE and PubMed (U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health) up to the current time. We identified 65 reports, 40 of which were considered relevant and form the basis of this review. Lichen sclerosus is now the accepted term, and balanitis xerotica obliterans is no longer acceptable. OBJECTIVE: Balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) is a chronic inflammatory disease that is considered as male genital variant lichen sclerosis. The incidence varies greatly in different series; diagnosis is mostly clinical but histopathological confirmation is mandatory. BACKGROUND: The aim of this article is to evaluate the histopathological findings of foreskin after circumcision for medical indications and to find out if analyzing the biopsy is a waste of resources.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: This retrospective analysis was carried out of the medical records and histopathological findings of 112 boys who underwent circumcision from June 2002 to June 2005. The study group consisted of 52 boys that were circumcised for medical indications, while the control group consisted of 60 boys who underwent circumcision for religious belief.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this single centre study was to determine: a) the outcome of isolated preputial reconstruction in distal hypospadias and b) overall parental satisfaction.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of case notes was performed to determine outcome. Postal parent-satisfaction questionnaires were devised to quantify subjective assessment of care and outcome.
RESULTS: A total of 33 cases of isolated preputial reconstruction were identified between 2006 and 2012. Three sets of notes were untraceable. The median age of the 30 remaining patients at surgery was 23 months (range 11-119).

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic, inflammatory condition which commonly involves the anogenital skin. This condition may affect the foreskin, glans, frenulum, meatus and urethra in males. It manifests itself with voiding symptoms. Obstructive uropathy is an extremely rare clinical presentation in childhood. This study reports the case of a 13-year-old boy presenting with obstructive uropathy due to LS and reviews the published data on the diagnosis, management and follow-up of this condition.

OBJECTIVE: Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO) is rarely described in the paediatric population. We report our 8-year experience, at Harold Wood Hospital, with BXO in circumcised boys.

OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of the true incidence of balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) among boys younger than 10 years.
METHODS: In a period of 13 months, 75 boys younger than 10 years were treated for phimosis. Suspicion of BXO was raised in phimosis grade 2 or 3 (classification by Kikiros). Patients were offered primarily either circumcision or conservative therapy and circumcision secondarily (if treatment failed in the conservative group).
