UNLABELLED: What's known on the subject? and What does the study add? The clinical presentation and complications of lichen sclerosus are well known. What is less well known is the true incidence of the condition. The published figures are all based on attendance at general medical clinics or specialist clinics, but it is likely that the true incidence is much higher than this reported incidence as many men will not present to the doctor for treatment. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of non-operative treatment using topical steroids on phimosis in infants and young children.

Beta blockade is associated with the onset and progression of Peyronie disease (PD). To date, there has not been a report of PD occurring with the alpha/beta blocker carvedilol. Syphilis has increased in Denmark and this "great imitator" disease is easily overlooked. Two case stories are presented; one case illustrates how a patient with classical symptoms of secondary syphilis was overlooked by doctors of several specialities for one year, and the other case is of a patient with a lesion on the penis presenting clinically, serologically and histologically as a syphilitic chancre, but it proved to be a rare chronic inflammatory condition known as a pseudotumor. It is emphasized that doctors in all specialities should increase their awareness of this disease.

We evaluated the early efficacy of non-surgical treatment using 0.07% betamethasone valerate ointment on, 34 boys with phimosis between January 2001 and June 2005. Patients were treated with 0.07% betamethasone valerate ointment applied to the distal aspect of the prepuce every other day for 2-6 weeks.
