Phyllodes Tumor (PT) of the breast is a rare type of fibroepithelial neoplasm, classified into benign, borderline, and malignant subtypes. These tumors are known to be locally aggressive and have an inherent potential for Local Recurrence (LR), even after adequate surgical treatment. Establishing strategies to reduce LR has become increasingly important, as 21 % to 36 % of patients experience disease recurrence despite achieving negative surgical margins. Although surgical resection of the lesion is the gold standard treatment for all subtypes of phyllodes tumors, the ideal extent of the surgi

Fibroadenoma is one of the most common benign breast tumors and exclusively has clear margins regardless of subtypes. We herein report a mastopathic-type fibroadenoma with indistinct margins on ultrasound. A 53-year-old postmenopausal woman with cecum cancer presented with a right breast mass on staging computed tomography (CT) for the cecum cancer. Mammography only suggested the presence of a breast mass and could not contribute to image diagnosis due to the dense breast. Ultrasound showed that the mass had indistinct margins, multiple dotted or linear hyperechoic foci against the background

Introduction: This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of breast MRI-guided vacuum assisted biopsies (MVAB) performed on lesions with high T2 signal. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively collected of all MVAB performed at our institution between January 2016 and December 2021 for high T2 lesions. T2 hyperintensity was defined as equal or higher signal than normal lymph node. The correlation between various demographic and imaging characteristics and the binary pathological outcome (benign vs malignant) was evaluated. Results: In total, 174 biopsies from 165 women met the inclusion criteri

Breast pain, or mastalgia, is an extremely common symptom among women, affecting over two-thirds of women during their lifetime. Although rarely linked to malignancy, breast pain often prompts women to seek medical consultation. While imaging is not always necessary, the selection of the radiological investigations should be guided by the type and characteristics of breast pain (cyclical, non-cyclical or focal pain), patient age, and associated clinical findings. The primary aim is to identify and appropriately manage the cause of pain, while excluding any underlying malignancy. The aim of thi

Accessory breast is seen in 0.4 to 6% of women and its most common location is axilla. Normal breast diseases like fibrocystic disease, fibroadenoma, and carcinomas can also be seen in accessory breast. However, the true prevalence of fibrocystic changes in the accessory breast is not known. We present the case of a woman with right sided axillary swelling which was initially thought to be a lipoma but on histological examination, it was diagnosed as a case of accessory breast with fibrocystic changes. Thus, while dealing with patients having swelling in axilla, accessory breast with its disea

CONTEXT.—: Atypical apocrine adenosis (AAA) is a rare breast lesion defined as presence of cytologic atypia in apocrine adenosis. World Health Organization Classification of Tumours, 5th edition, defines cytologic atypia as at least 3-fold variation in nuclear size and prominent nucleoli. Currently, owing to the rarity of the lesion, the clinical behavior of AAA is not well understood.
OBJECTIVE.—: To further investigate the risk of upgrade to malignant histology on follow-up excision after a diagnosis of isolated atypical apocrine adenosis (iAAA) on core needle biopsy (CNB).
DESIGN.—: We id

Under hormonal stimulation, from birth to puberty, various normal and abnormal changes in the mammary gland occur, and pediatric patients may sometimes present with significant breast changes. Many conditions are physiological and transient; however, they can cause anxiety and concern. Some of them, although less common, may involve a non-physiological process or a latent disease, therefore, timely diagnosis is essential to prevent complications that can lead to permanent consequences. The objective of this review is to provide a systematic description of the clinical and radiological characte

Plants from the Brassicaceae family are characterized by their high content of glucosinolates (GSLs), whose hydrolysis products, isothiocyanates (ITC) or indole compounds, have been found to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and metabolic regulatory functions. In this work, we used a model of transformation using the MCF10A cell line, a non-tumorigenic breast fibrocystic disease cell line, treated with benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P), a potent carcinogen known to induce the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and DNA damage. Broccoli sprout (BSE) or red cabbage aqueous (RCA) extracts were ric

Invasive breast carcinoma (IBC) arising within microglandular adenosis (MGA-CA), a rarity, is usually triple-negative (TNBC). TNBC burden is high in the South-Asian region, but little is known about MGA-CA. Herein, we analyze the clinicopathological spectrum of MGA-CA diagnosed at our tertiary care oncology center. Twenty-three cases of MGA-CA from 2005 to 2024 were collected. Clinicopathological parameters, including immunohistochemistry and available follow-up, were noted. Median age was 47.5 years (range 33-60 years). Interestingly, 7/14 cases (50 %) either had a family history of malignanc

This case report presents an asymptomatic 75-year-old female with a screening mammogram revealing a left-sided breast lesion, ultimately diagnosed as glycogen-rich clear cell carcinoma (GRCC) following a comprehensive evaluation and histopathological confirmation. Initial ultrasound-guided biopsy suggested a papillary neoplasm, which was discordant, and was followed by a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided biopsy showing fibrocystic changes throughout and a complex sclerosing lesion with flat epithelial atypia. We proceeded with a lumpectomy without a sentinel lymph node biopsy. Final path

Sclerosing adenosis (SA) is one of the findings seen in breast biopsies both in symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. Accurate diagnosis of this lesion is sometimes challenging for pathologists and radiologists. The lesion is characterized by proliferation of irregular glands with excess sclerosis in the surrounding stroma giving the lesion the features of invasive carcinomas. Will SA evolve into carcinoma? How long will it take for this transformation to occur? Can we distinguish between lesions that will undergo malignant transformation and those won't? These are all questions that have bee

Breast adenosis is a benign glandular proliferative disorder. Due to its imaging similarities with other malignant breast lesions, differentiating adenosis from other invasive carcinomas of the breast poses a diagnostic challenge. Fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) expression is observed in various benign and malignant lesions, increasing the risk of false-positive results. We present a case of FAPI-avid benign breast adenosis in a patient with adrenal adenocarcinoma in 68 Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT.

Mammary intraductal macrophages (foam cells) in humans are the most commonly encountered cells in spontaneous breast nipple discharge, nipple aspirate fluid, and ductal lavage, yet their origin remains unproven. These cells, in both humans and murine model systems, increase in pregnancy, pseudopregnancy, and other conditions like proliferative fibrocystic disease and intraductal neoplasia, ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), where there is intraductal ectasia and obstruction. Previous immunocytochemical studies with macrophage (CD68, lysozyme), epithelial (cytokeratin, estrogen receptor), and myo
