Endometrioid adenofibroma of ovary - a literature review.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Ovarian neoplasms are the third most common gynecological cancer and carry a poorer prognosis than breast cancer. Endometrioid borderline ovarian tumors (EBOTs) are intermediate epithelial lesions, histologically showing glandular patterns with mild to moderate atypia and no stromal invasion. Study selection for review: A comprehensive electronic search was conducted on PubMed to identify risk factors and etiological determinants associated with ovarian endometrioid adenofibroma (EA). CASE PRESENTATION: A 27-year-old woman with a left ovarian cyst underwent a laparoscop

Unraveling Benign Breast Conditions: A Comprehensive Study of Diagnosis, Treatment, and Care.

Introduction  The breast undergoes cyclical changes influenced by hormones, with benign breast diseases (BBDs) being more common than malignant conditions. These conditions can present with symptoms such as lumps, pain, swelling, and nipple discharge. This study investigates the incidence, clinical features, age distribution, and management of BBDs, providing insight into the common breast-related issues that affect women across different stages of life. Methodology  A prospective observational study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital from August 2021 to December 2022, including 100 pat

Activation of PI3K and deletion of p53 in keratin 15-expressing mouse mammary cells induces tumor heterogeneity and plasticity modeling metaplastic breast cancer.

Although relatively rare, metaplastic breast cancer responds poorly to traditional therapies compared to other subtypes. Accordingly, there is a need for novel animal models to understand its pathogenesis and plasticity. Since alterations in PIK3CA and TP53 genes are common in metaplastic breast cancer, we generated a mouse model of metaplastic breast cancer by driving Pik3ca activation and Trp53 loss in keratin 15-expressing mammary cells. In this model, male and female mice developed spontaneous mammary lesions, with malignancy reliant on loss of both Trp53 alleles. Importantly, tumors of th

Epidemiology of Mastalgia in rural populations: A study from Ujjain, India.

Mastalgia is a common breast complaint in women, particularly those of reproductive age, often leading to significant physical and psychological distress. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate 100 female patients with mastalgia over an 18-month period, assessing them through clinical examination, ultrasonography (USG), fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and mammography. The most frequent diagnoses were fibroadenosis (36%) and fibroadenoma (30%). Surgical management provided greater relief (90.5%) compared to medical therapy (80.9%), with Evening Primrose Oil being the most effective med

Extramedullary breast infiltration as the initial manifestation of adult acute B-lymphoblastic leukemia with TCF3::PBX1 fusion gene recurrence and adenofibroma: A case report.

Extramedullary breast relapse of leukemia is uncommon and primarily occurs in cases of acute myeloid leukemia(AML), and secondary acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) affecting the breast may also occur occasionally. The mechanism of extramedullary involvement remains unclear; patients' risk of hematological recurrence is high. TCF3::PBX1 (also known as E2A:: PBX1) is an oncogenic transcription factor arising from the T (1; 19) (q23; P13) translocation, observed in 5 % to 6 % of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases and approximately 3 % of adult ALL cases. Here, we report a case of

Lactating Vulvar Adenoma Associated With Fibroadenoma.

Ectopic breast is found to occur most commonly in the axilla, but also less commonly on the vulva and on sites outside the "milk line" like the face, neck and chest. Vulvar adenofibroma developing on ectopic breast tissue in the vulva is exceptionally rare. More precisely, vulvar adenofibroma associated with adenoma with lactating changes has only been documented three times to our knowledge. We herein report a vulvar mass specimen consistent with vulvar lactating adenoma associated with vulvar fibroadenoma occurring in a 36-year-old woman in the postpartum period.

Endometrial Adenofibroma in a Patient Receiving Toremifene: A Case Report.

INTRODUCTION: Adenofibroma is a rare benign Müllerian mixed tumor composed of epithelial and mesenchymal cells. This tumor may occasionally be associated with toremifene therapy which is used as an adjuvant drug for breast cancer. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe a case of a 55-year-old woman with adenofibroma of the endometrium. This patient was receiving toremifene after surgery and neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer. She underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy. There was no evidence of tumor residual or recurrence at 32 months of MRI follow-up. CONCLUSIO

Giant juvenile fibroadenoma: A case report.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Breast pathology in adolescents is rare and predominantly benign, with abnormalities including congenital anomalies, infections, mastodynia, nipple discharge, and mostly benign breast masses. Fibroepithelial tumors, the most common type, form a heterogeneous group that includes benign, borderline, and malignant entities such as phyllodes tumors. Differentiation of these tumors, especially various types of fibroadenomas, requires histopathological examination due to their similar radiological appearances and lesion heterogeneity. Recognizing the nature of these lesi

[Epidemio-Clinical And Therapeutic Aspects Of Gigantomastia At Point G University Hospital].

Gigantomastia is a rare benign mastopathy of unknown aetiology. It usually occurs in women during puberty or during pregnancy. It is characterized by excessive breast growth, which is psychologically and physically disabling. It is a pathology little studied because of its rarity. In order to describe the epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects, we report the case of four young women. The study was longitudinal over a period of 3 months. We collected data for 6 years from October 1, 2016, to October 31, 2021, at the surgery department B of the "Centre Hospitalier Universi

Computer-assisted Diagnosis of Breast Cancer by Cell Network Matrix Extraction and Multilayer Perceptron Analysis.

OBJECTIVE: Diagnosis of breast cancer is based on identification of various morphologic features by histopathologic examination of the specimen. Ancillary immunohistochemical and molecular analyses provide additional information that is prognostic and guides therapy. Because of subjectivity in this approach, we sought to develop a computer model which could assist in differentiating normal or benign tissue from malignant breast carcinoma. METHODS: Cases of benign sclerosing adenosis (20) and high-grade invasive ductal carcinomas (20) of breast were retrieved and re-examined. Five images of th

Case series on variable presentations of tuberculosis of the breast.

Tuberculosis (TB) of the breast is extremely rare and is often mistaken for benign or malignant lesions of the breast. They are rare even in countries which are endemic for TB, like India. The most common type of clinical presentation is a vague lump in the breast, but there are even other types of presentations which are documented. In olden days, there was a lot of dilemma and challenge in diagnosing TB of the breast, but thanks to improved pathological knowledge and the advent of investigations such as QuantiFERON-TB gold and GeneXpert, TB can be diagnosed early nowadays and treated accordi

Semaphorin 4C Promotes Macrophage Recruitment and Angiogenesis in Breast Cancer.

Semaphorins are a large family of evolutionarily conserved morphogenetic molecules that are associated with repelling axonal guidance. Intriguingly, recent researches indicate that semaphorins are involved in cancer progression. Semaphorin 4C (SEMA4C) has long been considered a neuronal migration gene, but we detected that it is also highly expressed in many malignant human cancers. During an investigation of subcutaneous tumor models, we found that SEMA4C expression promoted tumor growth and progression. We discovered that SEMA4C was involved in maintaining tumor cell self-renewal, likely by

Atypical Proliferative (Borderline) Serous Tumor in the Brain: A Case Report.

A 59-year-old woman with a remote history of invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast was found on a follow-up computed tomography scan of her brain to have a 1-cm lesion in the right frontal lobe in 2008. In the ensuing years, before her current admission, multiple imaging studies of the brain revealed that the lesion was stable and it was, therefore, interpreted as a small area of encephalomalacia related to a thrombosed cortical vein, a cavernoma, or treated metastatic breast cancer. In 2013, the patient underwent a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for ovarian tumors that were diagnosed as bi
