Coronary artery stenosis is one of the possible complications of radiotherapy to the mediastinum. Although less frequent than pericardial disease, anatomopathological studies have shown it not to be uncommon. Five cases with different clinical presentations are reported and the 30 previously described cases are reviewed. Radiotherapy was performed for Hodgkin's disease in 70% of cases and for carcinoma of the breast in 10% of cases. The condition called "lactation optic neuritis" has been previously considered a clinical entity of its own. Four women, who developed optic neuritis within 1-12 months while breast-feeding their infants, were investigated ophthalmologically and neurologically in order, to find specific clinical features for this condition. A murine monoclonal antibody, termed HeFi-1, was produced after immunization with the L428 Hodgkin's disease tissue culture cell line. Breast enlargement is an unusual complication of D-penicillamine therapy for rheumatoid arthritis. We observed breast enlargement and hyperprolactinemia in a woman receiving D-penicillamine for systemic sclerosis. Treatment with danazol was associated with a reduction in both the breast size and the prolactin level.

The association between systemic sclerosis and malignancy was evaluated in the Pittsburgh standard metropolitan statistical area during 1971-1982 and compared with data for this geographic area from the Third National Cancer Survey of 1969-1971. Three new cases of myelopathy without compression associated with paraproteinemia are reported. The neurologic picture was that of spinal muscular atrophy in one case and chronic spinal combined sclerosis in two. Thirty-six postirradiation breast tissue specimens from 30 patients with breast cancer treated by primary radiation therapy were evaluated to define the effects of therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation on the residual non-neoplastic breast tissue. Sclerosing lobular hyperplasia is defined as a lesion of the breast characterized solely by prominent hyperplasia of the lobules and sclerosis of the intralobular stroma. The extra-lobular connective tissue may or may not be fibrosed. To ascertain the frequency of this condition, the histologic sections of all benign breast lesions diagnosed at Howard University Hospital between January 1, 1980, and June 30, 1982, were reviewed.
