With the help of a large number of patients of the gynaecological hospital of Berlin University is demonstrated that with increasing genital descent incontinences of urine more infrequently appear, infections and cases of urinary stasis, however, more frequently. Because of the greater life expectancy of women, the length of the post-menopausal period has also been constantly increasing. The authors present the results of an inquiry into urinary stress incontinence in 415 women chosen at random, in whom the genital prolapse or stress incontinence were not complaints for hospitalization. Detrusor hyperreflexia (DH) is a frequently occurring condition. The symptomatology is characterized by frequency, urgency and urge incontinence. DH is defined as involuntary, uninhibited detrusor contractions. The physiology and pathophysiology of the micturition reflex is reviewed. Laboratory examination of all birds that were culled or died during an eight-month period in two commerical laying flocks was performed to reveal the causes of disease and their prevalence. The average weekly total of diseased birds was greater in one flock (60-69) than the other (27-37).
