Acrodermatitis enteropathica (AE) is a hereditary autosomal recessive disorder caused by a defect in zinc metabolism, leading to a zinc deficiency. BACKGROUND: With the rapid development of the economy and changes in lifestyle in recent years, the epidemiological pattern of dermatophytosis has changed. We analyzed the epidemiological features of dermatophytosis in a hospital in Hangzhou from 2018 to 2023.

BACKGROUND: Trichophyton indotineae, a newly defined species within the T. mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale complex, has emerged as an epidemiological concern worldwide. However, owing to the limitations of commonly applied fungal identification techniques, T. indotineae remains underreported. In addition, T. indotineae's response to treatment has been described in only a few studies.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence, clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of terbinafine-resistant T. mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale complex infections, as well as to detect T. indotineae cases.

Trichophyton (T.) mentagrophytes ITS genotype VIII, also known as Trichophyton indotineae, is a new species of the T. mentagrophytes/T. interdigitale complex and its first records, albeit under a different species name, are from the Indian subcontinent, Middle Eastern Asia, and West Asia. T. mentagrophytes genotype VIII (T. indotineae) has spread globally and has now been documented in over 30 countries. Acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare drug-induced pustular eruption characterised by the rapid onset of superficial pinhead pustules. We discuss the case of a 27-year-old man who presented with a generalised pustular eruption on the neck, trunk and limbs. He commenced upadacitinib for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) 6 months before developing the rash, and the dose was increased from 15 to 30 mg daily, 3 months prior. His only other medication was oral terbinafine, for suspected tinea corporis, which was initiated 1 month before developing the pustular eruption.

Psoriasis is a multifactorial immune-mediated disorder linked to the interleukin (IL)-17 signalling pathway. We present an unusual case of tinea corporis and faciei caused by Trichophyton tonsurans that developed after starting the IL-17A/F inhibitor bimekizumab. Our case underlines how psoriatic patients, treated with IL-17 inhibitors, should be screened for cutaneous fungal infections before and during treatment, in order to exclude a concomitant infection or the risk of its exacerbation.
