Inguinal hernia in females is an uncommon entity. While most patients present in infancy or early in childhood, only a few cases are diagnosed in adulthood. Most cases of inguinal hernia have small bowel or omentum as its content. Herniation of the ovary or fallopian tube is rare. In our case, an 18-year-old female presented to the outpatient department with unilateral inguinal swelling, which on imaging was found to be ovarian inguinal herniation. This prompted further evaluation. There was an associated absence of the uterus and left kidney, and congenital block vertebrae involving the cervi

Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a rare congenital disorder characterised by the absence of the uterus and upper vagina. It typically presents in adolescent females with primary amenorrhoea despite normal secondary sexual characteristics and a 46 XX karyotype, with an incidence of 1 in 4500 female births. A 20-year-old married female presented with a chief complaint of bilateral inguinal swelling persisting for the past 5-6 months. She had primary amenorrhoea and was sexually active without dyspareunia or coital difficulties. A general examination was normal. Bilateral reducib

INTRODUCTION: Kallmann De Morsier syndrome (KS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by congenital gonadotropic deficiency alongside anosmia or hyposmia, with a lower prevalence in females. Diagnosis relies on clinical and biological assessment, confirmed through pituitary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Cardiac involvement in this syndrome is uncommon, with only a few cases documented in the literature.
OBSERVATION: We reported the case of a 22-year-old female with a history of pulmonary valve stenosis for which she underwent balloon dilatation at the age of five years. She presented w

An imperforate hymen (IH) is a condition where the hymen, which is a thin membrane that partially covers the vaginal opening, completely obstructs the vaginal canal. This condition is associated with problems such as pelvic mass, cyclical abdominal discomfort, and difficulty in urination. The occurrence of IH is quite rare, with an incidence of only one in 1000-10,000 women worldwide. We discuss a classical case of primary amenorrhoea with associated complaints of urinary retention and its management by hymenotomy (cruciate incision). We also considered the risk of hymen re-closure due to the

This case report elucidates a scenario involving two sibling sisters born out of consanguineous marriage-one initially presenting with lower respiratory infection, concurrently exhibiting short stature and primary amenorrhoea. Investigation into the primary amenorrhoea unveiled hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, confirmed by the absence of ovaries and a hypoplastic uterus on pelvic MRI. Genetic analysis via whole exome sequencing identified a homozygous variant NM_001282717.2: c.808C>T in the MCM8 gene, located on exon 8 of chromosome 20, inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. We describe a case of a young woman who presented with delayed secondary sexual development and primary amenorrhoea. She had low levels of oestradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone with normal levels of other pituitary hormones. Genetic testing revealed a rare diagnosis of autosomal recessive hypogonadotropic hypogonadism 8. She was treated with hormone therapy to promote the growth of the uterus and secondary sexual characteristics. Combined contraceptive pills were initiated. A pelvis ultrasound taken after six months revealed a growing uterus.

BACKGROUND: Primary amenorrhoea (PA) refers to an ailment when adolescent girls do not attain menarche naturally. It is one of the most common gynaecological disorders specified. Chromosomal abnormalities play a pivotal role in PA. Cytogenetic analysis is an indispensable diagnostic tool to determine the abnormality of the chromosome. In an emerging country like India, cytogenetic analysis is at a nascent stage. There are very few studies on Cytogenetics present in eastern India, including West Bengal. In rural and suburban areas PA sufferers often experience late diagnosis and struggle to acc

SUMMARY: Paediatric pituitary adenomas are rare in children and adolescents and differ from adults in both clinical presentation and management. We present the case of a 14-year-old female with primary amenorrhoea secondary to a macroprolactinoma, showing a modest radiological and biochemical response to dopamine agonist (DA) therapy. Despite a 10-month duration of increasing DA therapy, initial symptoms of primary amenorrhoea and hyperprolactinaemia persisted, with new symptoms of weight gain, lethargy and low mood. A transsphenoidal resection of the macroprolactinoma was successfully perform

Primary amenorrhoea due to Müllerian malformations is rare, with 1 in 4500 cases and 2%-8% of cases presenting as infertility. Obstructive Müllerian anomalies present as hematometra and hematocolpos during puberty. Timely surgical intervention is required to relieve acute pelvic pain and restore functional anatomy. A 15-year-old girl presented to OPD with complaints of severe pain in her lower abdomen and lower back for the last 2-3 weeks, not relieving on medication. She has not attained menarche and has been having cyclical pain and low backache for 7-8 days every month for the last year. Ph
