Brenner tumors are ovarian epithelial tumors that can be benign, borderline, or malignant. This report highlights a case of a patient with postmenopausal bleeding and elevated estradiol associated with a Brenner tumor. A 59-year-old woman, menopausal for seven years, presented with postmenopausal bleeding for the past month. An ultrasound done four years prior to presentation revealed a right adnexal mass likely to be a fibrous lesion. An office endometrial biopsy done at the time of presentation showed a weakly proliferative endometrium. The patient was then prescribed a course of medroxyprog

Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping has changed the way of lymph node assessment and provided a minimal invasive option that lessens the negative effects of a full lymphadenectomy, has become a crucial tool in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and endometrial cancer diagnosis at the same is a rare condition. This case report presents a 66-year-old woman admitting to the hospital with the complaint of postmenopausal bleeding. After hysteroscopic evaluation and Magnetic Resonance imaging confirming the endometrial cancer, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and bi

Uterine leiomyosarcoma is a rare aggressive uterine malignancy that arises from a smooth muscle of the uterus which accounts for 2-5% of all uterine malignancies. Definitive treatment is surgery with a high rate of recurrences. Our patient presented with lower abdominal pain and mass per abdomen which was diagnosed to be uterine leiomyosarcoma. A 56-year-old woman of East Indian origin presented with abdominal pain and a huge rapidly growing suprapubic abdominal mass with an almost monthly doubling. Her CA 125 and Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level was elevated and Computed Tomography (CT) scan

BACKGROUND: The increasing incidence of endometrial cancer (EC) has highlighted the need for improved early detection methods. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel DNA methylation classifier, EMPap, for EC detection using cervical scrapings.
METHODS: EMPap incorporated the methylation status of BHLHE22 and CDO1, along with age and body mass index (BMI), into a logistic regression model to calculate the endometrial cancer methylation (EM) score for identifying EC in cervical scrapings. We enrolled 1297 patients with highly suspected EC, including 196 confirmed EC cases, and assesse

Endometrial polyps, a common gynecological finding, may be symptomatic or asymptomatic, with age and postmenopausal bleeding identified as significant risk factors. While typically identifiable on ultrasound, atypical presentations can pose diagnostic challenges. We report a case of a postmenopausal woman initially misdiagnosed with endometrial cavity fluid due to the polyp's almost entirely cystic appearance on ultrasound. Hysteroscopy revealed hyperplastic endometrium with a 3.5-cm endometrial polyp. A polypectomy was performed, and the specimen was sent for histopathological evaluation, whi

With breast cancer cases escalating globally, the risk of uncommon sequelae like cutaneous metastatic carcinoma also rises. The identification of such metastases is essential in posttreatment surveillance. A 73-year-old woman with a history of hypertension and diabetes initially presented with postmenopausal bleeding, leading to the discovery and treatment of endometrial carcinoma via hysterosalpingo-oophorectomy. Nearly a decade later, she developed bilateral breast carcinoma, confirmed via radiology and biopsies, necessitating a bilateral-modified radical mastectomy. Her postoperative phase

BACKGROUND: Identifying DNA mismatch repair deficiency (MMRd) is important for prognosis risk stratification in patients with early-stage endometrial cancer (EC), but there is a notable absence of cost-effective and non-invasive preoperative assessment techniques. The study explored the co-reactivity pattern of glucose metabolism and blood perfusion in EC based on hybrid [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) PET/dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE)-MRI to provide an imaging biomarker for identifying MMRd.
METHODS: Patients with a history of postmenopausal bleeding and initially diagnosed with EC on u

Non-puerperal uterine inversion is a rare complication, and its incidence is not well documented in the current literature. The most common risk factor is the presence of submucosal fibroids. Nonetheless, any endometrial pathology can precipitate this inversion and may also have a malignant etiology. A detailed anamnesis and structured complementary diagnostic exams, along with a surgical team prepared for the resolution of this gynecological condition, are essential. This case presents a 76-year-old woman with non-puerperal uterine inversion following the prolapse of a uterine mass. Treatment

We report the case of a 60-year-old female who presented with postmenopausal bleeding after she underwent investigations followed by a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy. A diagnosis of low-grade endometrioid adenocarcinoma admixed with large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) was made based on the histomorphology and immunohistochemical profile. NEC of the endometrium is a rare and highly aggressive neoplasm requiring a multidisciplinary approach for its treatment. As treatment strategies are changing over time, preoperating imaging e

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (diagnostic). The objectives are as follows: To assess the diagnostic accuracy of endometrial sampling with histology in the diagnosis of endometrial cancer in women with postmenopausal bleeding and thickened endometrium on ultrasound. Diagnosis will be verified by the reference standards, hysteroscopy with histology, obtained by targeted (such as grasp biopsy of the endometrium or resection of focal pathology) or global sampling (with dilation and curettage), and histology of hysterectomy specimens. Secondary objectives To determine the diagnostic accu

Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the cervix (CCAC) is a rare subtype of cervical adenocarcinoma. It has been linked to intrauterine exposure to diethylstilbestrol (DES) but can happen in non-DES-exposed patients, albeit less commonly. Presentation is largely vaginal bleeding, emphasizing the importance of considering CCAC in the differential of abnormal vaginal bleeding despite the tumor's rarity. We present the case of a non-DES-exposed 68-year-old woman who presented with postmenopausal bleeding (PMB). The patient underwent total abdominal hysterectomy after misdiagnosis as clear cell endometria

Background and Clinical Significance: Abnormal uterine bleeding during the postmenopausal years is a pathological sign that may be due to simultaneous intrauterine and ovarian pathology. Granulosa cell tumours of the ovary are malignant neoplasms producing oestradiol, which leads to the abnormal proliferation of the endometrium, precancerous lesions, and endometrial carcinoma type I. Case Presentation: The authors present a clinical case of a 67-year-old woman with postmenopausal bleeding who underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral adnexectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy, and parti

BACKGROUND: The current approach to endometrial cancer screening requires that all patients be able to recognize symptoms, report them, and carry out appropriate interventions. The current approach to endometrial cancer screening could become a problem in the future, especially for Black women and women from minority groups, and could lead to disparities in receiving proper care. Moreover, there is a lack of literature on artificial intelligence in the prediction and diagnosis of endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia and endometrial cancer.
OBJECTIVE: This study analyzed different artificial
