INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to characterize unicornuate uterus with noncommunicating horns, an uncommon Müllerian abnormality. With a 0.06 % incidence rate, this disorder can lead to endometriosis linked to retrograde menstruation or hematometra, which can cause significant pelvic pain.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old woman with chief complaints of severe dysmenorrhea for five years. Despite receiving hormone therapy, the patient's symptoms persisted. She has only one living child born at laparotomy for an abdominal pregnancy 19 years ago. Upon ultrasound inspection, a 2.8 × 3 cm endometr

Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening complication of pregnancy and represents the leading cause of maternal mortality in the first trimester. In developing countries early diagnosis, necessary for favorable outcomes, is often unavailable and women are often not aware of possible conditions and associated complications. Moreover, access to sexual and reproductive health services and antenatal care are limited in such settings. Finally, management options are restricted and often performed in emergency with higher risk of complications and mortality. We report here a 33-year-old woman present

BACKGROUND: Uterine didelphys (UD) develops from failure of fusion of the paired Müllerian ducts, resulting in two noncommunicating uteri. We present a 31-year-old pregnant woman whose UD anomaly had not been detected during two previous cesarean sections and her presentation to a health-care clinic for her fifth pregnancy.
CASE PRESENTATION: She was referred to our obstetrics clinic due to suspicion of abdominal pregnancy and a complaint of severe lower abdominal pain. On ultrasonography, UD was detected with two adjacent uteri, one of which was empty and the other with a fetus of approximat

Abdominal pregnancy remains a rare entity among ectopic pregnancies overall; however, it carries the highest risk of mortality and morbidity for the mother and the fetus. Prompt diagnosis and early intervention remain the main modality of treatment to prevent catastrophic complications because of abdominal pregnancy. However, many barriers exist, leading to delayed diagnosis and management. We present three cases of secondary abdominal pregnancy with different outcomes over three years from 2018 to 2021. The clinical presentation, evaluation, management plan, and outcomes of the cases are disc

INTRODUCTION: Abdominal pregnancy is an extremely rare form of ectopic gestation, and it presents with pelvic pain, severe bleeding, or remain asymptomatic. Its Risk factors include previous ectopic pregnancies, cesarean section, smoking, pelvic inflammatory disease, using intrauterine devices (IUD), and assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs). Accurate diagnosis of rectal ectopic pregnancy remains challenging due to the lack of well-established diagnostic criteria.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 25-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with a 2-day history of unresponsive lower abdomina

Abdominal pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy (accounting for 1% of all ectopic pregnancies). Depending on gestational age and its location various symptoms and signs may be exhibited. This study aimed to report a case of abdominal pregnancy occurring in the Morrison Pouch with a primary presentation of right upper quadrant pain and to highlight complications that may arise in the management of abdominal pregnancy located in the Morrison Pouch. A 22-year pregnant woman at gestation of 22 weeks presented with a right upper quadrant mass and pain. Ultrasound examination revealed a live

BACKGROUND Abdominal pregnancy is a rare form of extrauterine pregnancy that usually results in a poor outcome; it is associated with serious fetal and maternal morbidity. The diagnosis of advanced abdominal pregnancy is sometimes challenging and should be identified early, at a routine antenatal examination. There are still no evidence-based management strategies for late abdominal pregnancy. This report presents a case of a patient with an abdominal pregnancy and a non-viable fetus. CASE REPORT A 34-year-old woman presented as an emergency 2 months after the diagnosis of intrauterine fetal d

Abdominal pregnancies are a rare form of ectopic pregnancy with omentum pregnancies being even rarer. Ectopic pregnancy should be diagnosed and terminated early to prevent the risk of harm to the mother. This case report describes a rare case of omentum pregnancy with severe hemoperitoneum. The patient had not visited a doctor until she failed to menstruate for 3 months, by which point she had developed severe hypogastralgia. The patient was diagnosed with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy after ultrasonography. The omentum pregnancy was complicated by severe hemoperitoneum, which was confirmed by

BACKGROUND: Telangiectatic osteosarcoma is rare and it rarely affects flat bones, especially the bones of the pelvis. It is uncommon for telangiectatic osteosarcoma to be considered as a differential diagnosis when assessing a large intrabdominal mass.
CASE REPORT: We present our case of a 33-year-old African female who presented with a sizeable telangiectatic osteosarcoma of the left iliac bone. She reported a 3-year duration of a painless, slow-growing mass arising from the left flank. At examination, a large bony hard mass extending from the left ilium to the umbilicus was noted, almost mi

BACKGROUND: Primary abdominal pregnancy is an extremely rare form of ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies that occur in the liver and diaphragm are even rarer, limited case reports are available in the literature.
CASE SUMMARY: A woman of childbearing age was transferred to the emergency department due to lumbar and abdominal pain radiating to the back toward the lower right. After a series of physical and auxiliary examinations, she was clinically diagnosed with hepatic ectopic pregnancy. Laparoscopic surgery was performed to remove the pregnancy tissue and achieve hemostasis. After a peri

PURPOSE: Ectopic pregnancies with implantation in the upper abdomen are exceptionally rare. Here we provide a systematic review of hepatic ectopic pregnancies and the corresponding management strategies. Furthermore, this report details a case of ectopic hepatic pregnancy, successfully treated with primary methotrexate (MTX) followed by a two-staged robotic-assisted resection.
METHODS: Two independent investigators performed a systematic review using the online search engine PubMed and MEDLINE database. The search utilized the following terms: 'Hepatic Ectopic Pregnancy,' 'Hepatic Extrauterin

This case report discusses the rare and complex occurrence of an advanced abdominal pregnancy in a 36-year-old multiparous woman at 26 weeks of gestation, compounded by chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome. The patient was presented with severe symptoms, including abdominal pain, fever, chills, constipation, and vaginal spotting, leading to her hospital admission. Diagnosis was challenging due to the advanced stage of the pregnancy and its abdominal location, particularly in the Douglas pouch, as detected through ultrasonography. According to anatomical standards,

BACKGROUND: Lithopaedion, or "stone baby," represents an exceptionally rare clinical phenomenon with fewer than 350 documented cases existing in the medical literature. This condition arises when an advanced extrauterine pregnancy ceases its developmental trajectory and undergoes a lithification process, potentially resulting in a calcified mass with fetal-like morphology. Typically, lithopaedions remain asymptomatic for decades, but may occasionally elicit acute symptoms necessitating medical intervention. However, predominantly, these entities are incidental findings discovered during radiol

OBJECTIVES: Analyze the clinical and ultrasound characteristics of 15 cases of abdominal pregnancy (AP) to improve the ultrasonography-based diagnosis.
METHODS: A retrospective research of AP patients from 2010 to 2021 with pathology was performed, clinical and ultrasound characteristics were analyzed and summarized.
RESULTS: Fifteen cases of AP occurred in early pregnancy. Most cases of AP were implanted in the pelvic cavity, with a few on the greater omentum and diaphragm, etc. Eight cases showed mixed hyperechoic, four cases had gestational sacs, and three cases exhibited mixed hypoechoic

Dead foetal remains retained within the abdomen following an ectopic pregnancy leads to the formation of lithopedion, a rare entity. A 44-year-old woman sub-fertile for 16 years presented with sub-acute abdominal pain. She had not sought medical help earlier, on account of her religious or cultural beliefs. Imaging revealed a calcified mass containing bones. The differential diagnoses were lithopedion or a fetiform teratoma. During laparotomy, cutting open the mass revealed multiple long, short and flat bones, which together formed an almost complete foetal skeleton. Histopathology revealed an

Abdominal pregnancy (AP) is a rare event of globally reported pregnancy and is significantly challenging to diagnose because of various symptoms. Therefore, we aimed to present a case of a 26-year-old female with unexpected AP of third pregnancy found during emergency fetal evacuation laparotomy. The possible scenario was found to be fetus implanted into the fibroid scar of her obstetric history, leading to complications with uterine rupture. The image was observed properly by the MRI that was performed after the laparotomy. Although the ultrasound was used as the diagnostic tool for the AP, t

Abdominal pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy where implantation and development of the egg take place in the peritoneal cavity outside the tubo-uterine mucosa, in contact with intestinal loops. Diagnosis is most often difficult. We report the case of a 32-year-old woman (gravida 1, para 1), with a history of PCOS, diagnosed with abdominal pregnancy at 20 weeks of amenorrhea complicated by acute intestinal obstruction. Diagnosis was confirmed by abdomino-pelvic scan. Surgery was performed with the patient under general anesthesia. She presented a macerated fetus with an infiltration
