OBJECTIVES: A comparative examination of the clinical, laboratory, ultrasound findings, and operative characteristics of rare site located ectopic pregnancies.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of all department cases of rare site located ectopic pregnancies diagnosed and treated from December 2006 to December 2019.

INTRODUCTION: Ovarian pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy. Its incidence is 0.5% to 1% of all ectopic gestations, or 1 in 7000 to 40,000 live births. The diagnosis is intricate and based on surgical and histopathological observations. Traditional risk factors for ovarian ectopic pregnancy are similar to those for tubal pregnancy, but use of an IUD seems to be disproportionately associated.

Ovarian pregnancy is a rare entity among ectopic pregnancies. Its diagnosis and management are not always easy. The preoperative diagnosis of primary ovarian pregnancy (POP) remains elusive and the final diagnosis relies heavily on histologic findings. The diagnostic criteria for POP, established in 1878 by Spiegelberg, are based primarily on the identification of an embryonic sac within the ovary and the localization of conception products therein. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical significance of preoperative ultrasound diagnosis and classification of ovarian pregnancy (OP).
METHODS: The ultrasonographic reports, medical records, and operative summaries were reviewed for twelve women with a confirmed diagnosis of OP. A twenty-eight-year-old female patient during the second pregnancy, about 6 hbd (according to the date of the last menstrual period) from the spontaneous cycle, was directed to the local hospital because of suspected ectopic pregnancy with the location of the fallopian tube on the left side. Ovarian ectopic pregnancy is a rare event in both natural and assisted human reproduction settings. There are few reports of this event after in vitro fertilization. Diagnosis can be challenging, since it requires specific medical expertise. Patients with this condition call for careful management during treatment so as to not affect their fertility potential. This paper describes the case of a woman submitted to ICSI and embryo transfer who subsequently had an ovarian ectopic pregnancy and underwent a laparoscopic partial right oophorectomy.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the preoperative diagnostic clues to ovarian pregnancy (OP).
METHODS: This study conducted a retrospective chart review of 23 patients with OP and 46 patients with tubal pregnancy (TP) from October 1, 2003 to September 31, 2016 in Hanyang University Hospital.
RESULTS: There were no significant differences in demographic and clinical characteristics between the two groups. The presence of an ectopic gestational sac and hemoperitoneum was significantly higher in the TP group (13.0% vs. 95.7%, P=0.000; 13.0% vs. 54.3%, P=0.001, respectively) in preoperative ultrasonogram.
