AIM: The aim of this study was to investigate the obstetric outcomes and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic surgery for women with heterotopic pregnancy.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of women who had undergone laparoscopic surgery for heterotopic pregnancy. The primary outcome was the feasibility of laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of heterotopic pregnancy and the secondary outcomes were obstetric outcomes.

CONCLUSION: Women with a history of caesarean section, who do not respond to a medical regimen for early termination of pregnancy should undergo an ultrasound examination to establish whether this may be due to a placenta accreta, increta or percreta.

It has been suggested that acupuncture may pose particular risks during pregnancy: by enhancing oxygenation to the developing embryo (presumably via increasing blood flow to the uterus); by affecting the level of maternal progesterone in early pregnancy; or by stimulating uterine contractions.
