Fetal ventriculomegaly (VM) and its severity and associated central nervous system (CNS) abnormalities are important indicators of high risk for impaired neurodevelopmental outcomes. Recently, a novel fetal brain age prediction method using a two-dimensional (2D) single-channel convolutional neural network (CNN) with multiplanar MRI sections showed the potential to detect fetuses with VM. This study examines the diagnostic performance of a deep learning-based fetal brain age prediction model to distinguish fetuses with VM (n = 317) from typically developing fetuses (n = 183), the severity of V

Cervical cytology is a vital screening tool used to detect precancerous and cancerous cells in the cervix. The procedure is crucial in preventing cervical cancer by enabling the early detection and treatment of abnormal cells. In the context of pregnancy, cytology remains an essential component of prenatal care. Numerous studies confirmed that cytology was safe for both the mother and the fetus when performed correctly. The interpretation of cytological results during pregnancy requires careful consideration due to physiological changes in the cervix, which may mimic or obscure pathological fi

BACKGROUND: Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is primarily an inherited condition associated with the risk of sudden cardiac death. Due to variable phenotypic expression, a prolonged QT interval on a 12-lead ECG is not always present. LQTS may present in the fetus with persistent bradycardia, including sinus bradycardia or functional 2:1 atrioventricular block. We report our experience of persistent fetal bradycardia prompting parental assessment for congenital LQTS.
METHODS: From January 1, 2018 to November 1, 2023, 20 parents (20 mothers; 20 fathers) of fetuses presenting with persistent bradycardia

Copy number variations (CNVs) in chromosome 16p11.2 are not rare. 16p11.2 microdeletion is among the most commonly known genetic etiologies of overweightness, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and related neurodevelopmental disorders. We report the prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling of three cases with inherited 16p11.2 microdeletions. In these families, mother/father and fetus have the same microdeletion. Following the use of molecular genetic techniques including array-based methods, the number of reported cases has rapidly increased. A combination of prenatal three-dimensional ultrasou

BACKGROUND: Copy number variation (CNV) of X chromosome can lead to a variety of neonatal abnormalities, especially for male fetuses. In recent years, due to the high sensitivity and high specificity of NIPS, its application has gradually expanded from chromosome aneuploidy to CNV. Few prenatal cases involving the detection of Xq duplication and deletion by NIPS have been reported, but it is of great significance for genetic counseling.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 36-year-old woman was referred for prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling at 17 weeks of gestation because of abnormal result of nonin
