Heterotopic pregnancy (HP) is a rare condition with an incidence of about 1 in 30 000 in natural conceptions and 1 in 100 in cases involving assisted reproductive techniques (ART). The diagnosis can be challenging and often underdiagnosed due to the presence of an intrauterine pregnancy. We aim to present a rare case of HP, characterized by the presence of intrauterine twin implantation. This case highlights the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for HP even in the presence of a viable intrauterine twin gestation, particularly following ovulation induction with clomiphene citr

INTRODUCTION: Limb body wall complex is a rare polymalformative syndrome which consists of an abdominal and/or thoracic wall defect with an extremely short umbilical cord associated with kyphoscoliosis, intestinal malrotation, and lower limb defects.
CASE REPORT: A 31-year-old primigravida presented with monochorionic monoamniotic twin pregnancy with discordant anomaly. One fetus had exomphalos, acrania, bilateral talipes, a single umbilical artery, kyphoscoliosis and a short umbilical cord, findings suggestive of limb body wall complex. An ultrasound one week later revealed an unfortunate in

Monochorionic-monoamniotic (MCMA) twin pregnancies represent the rarest and highest risk form of twin gestation, largely due to complications such as umbilical cord entanglement (UCE). We report a case of a 27-year-old woman with a spontaneously conceived MCMA twin pregnancy complicated by an extreme intraoperative finding of 17 loops of UCE, yet with a favorable neonatal outcome. MCMA gestation was diagnosed antenatally by ultrasound demonstrating a single placenta without an intertwin membrane. The patient was admitted at 31 weeks' gestation for planned inpatient monitoring and administratio

A woman in her early 30s with a twin pregnancy conceived through ovulation induction underwent elective caesarean delivery at term. Soon after administration of intramuscular methylergometrine (0.2 mg) for mild postpartum bleeding, she developed sudden, severe chest pain with breathlessness. Her ECG showed diffuse ST-segment depression with reciprocal elevation in aVR, and cardiac enzymes were raised. Echocardiography revealed mild left ventricular hypokinesia, while coronary angiography demonstrated normal arteries. She responded promptly to nitrate therapy and supportive care. The temporal r

INTRODUCTION: Monochorionic (MC) twin pregnancies are at high risk of maternal, fetal, and neonatal complications. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) increases the incidence of MC twinning, but its impact on pregnancy outcomes in this subgroup remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether conception via ART is associated with adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes in MC twin pregnancies and to highlight key areas for future research.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective observational study was conducted on MC twin and multifetal pregnancies referred to a tertiary fetal medici

BACKGROUND: Selective intrauterine growth restricted (sIUGR) is a major cause of stillbirth and adverse pregnancy outcomes in monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twins. However, the underlying pathophysiologic mechanism of sIUGR remains poorly understood. The study aims to investigate the metabolite perturbations and metabolic mechanisms of sIUGR fetuses through a metabolomics study.
METHODS: Umbilical cord blood was collected from 30 pairs of MCDA sIUGR twin fetuses and 11 pairs of MCDA preterm (PT) twins, followed by non-targeted metabolomics using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Data wer

Preeclampsia remains a leading cause of maternal and perinatal mortality, largely attributed to abnormal placentation, incomplete spiral artery remodeling, and increased antiangiogenic factors. Established risk factors for preeclampsia include a history of preeclampsia, chronic hypertension, diabetes, obesity, advanced maternal age, and multiple gestation. This report details a case of a 31-year-old with a history of five total pregnancies, two term pregnancies, one preterm pregnancy, two induced abortions, and one living child (G5P2121) with a dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy who present

BACKGROUND: Twin pregnancies are at increased risk for selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) and birthweight discordance, which contribute to elevated perinatal mortality and morbidity. Early identification of at-risk pregnancies remains challenging, limiting optimal prenatal counselling and timely clinical intervention.
OBJECTIVE: To determine whether fetal fraction (FF) from cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) screening correlates with birthweight differences and predicts birthweight discordance and sFGR in twin pregnancies.
METHODS: This retrospective study included 224 twin pregnancies (bot

OBJECTIVE: Twin gestations have high prevalence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). The underlying placental pathology associated with HDP in twin pregnancies is not well established.
STUDY DESIGN: This is a retrospective cohort study in a single healthcare system. Patients with diamniotic twin gestation and placental pathology were included. Demographic and clinical information was abstracted.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: All placentas were evaluated for the presence (in one or both placentas) of four pathologic categories. Among those with HDP, placental pathology was compared by deliv

BACKGROUND: Breastfeeding women are often concerned about their milk supply. To increase their milk supply, a galactagogue may be used. Galactagogues are foods, herbals, or medicines that increase milk production or flow. There is limited information on the effectiveness of galactagogues.
RESEARCH AIM: We aimed to evaluate the use and perceived effectiveness of prescribed and over-the-counter galactagogues in the Netherlands.
METHODS: We performed cross-sectional analyses among breastfeeding participants using a galactagogue in the cohort study the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register. Their baseli

This study investigated the expression profile of the Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) gene in goats across three reproductive groups - twin-bearing (n = 12), single-bearing (n = 10) and non-pregnant (n = 8) - using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Descriptive statistics revealed that twin-bearing goats were significantly heavier at service and kidding, with higher litter weights compared to other groups (p < 0.05). No breed-wise differences were observed, allowing pooled analysis for gene expression. Melt curve and amplification plot analyses confirmed primer specificity and efficient amplifi

PURPOSE: To evaluate the short- and long-term outcomes of the offspring of twin pregnancies undergoing cerclage.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, we identified primigravid women who delivered live twins between January 2005 and December 2019. Women with a history of miscarriage, stillbirth, or prolonged hospitalization (>7 days post-cerclage) were excluded. The participants were grouped by gestational age at cerclage placement as follows: <16 weeks, 16-24 weeks, and >24 weeks. We calculated the adjusted odds ratios (OR) and hazard ratios (HR)

INTRODUCTION: Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is a potentially life-threatening condition caused by maternal alloimmunization against fetal red blood cell (RBC) antigens. While most cases involve well-characterized antibodies such as anti-D, anti-c, or anti-K, antibodies against low-prevalence antigens (LPAs) - particularly those within the MNS blood group system - remain underrecognized and underreported.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of maternal alloimmunization against the paternally inherited LPA MUT (MNS35), carried on a hybrid glycophorin (GYPA*19, GP.Hut), acros

INTRODUCTION: Joubert syndrome (JS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder belonging to the ciliopathies and can cause a series of neurological symptoms after birth. Prenatal diagnosis of this disease is rare, as the results from prenatal ultrasonography for JSRD are relatively nonspecific. Prenatal MRI is usually the preferred diagnostic method. On fetal MRI, it presents as a typical midbrain-hindbrain malformation characterized by the molar tooth sign (MTS). Currently, reports of prenatal MRI diagnosis for JS are rare, with no documented twin gestations. Herein, we report a case of JSRD in a

OBJECTIVE: To determine (1) Whether the presence and severity of recipient twin cardiomyopathy in the setting of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome are associated with worse perinatal outcomes when compared to recipient twins without evidence of cardiomyopathy and (2) The optimal management strategy to reduce the likelihood of adverse perinatal outcomes when recipient twin cardiomyopathy is present.
METHODS: We included observational studies and randomized controlled trials of monochorionic-diamniotic twin gestations affected by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, which reported the relationshi

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Postpartum stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common pelvic floor disorder that impairs quality of life. Early identification of high-risk women is important for targeted interventions; however, prediction tools specific to delivery mode remain limited.
METHODS: This retrospective cohort study enrolled women who underwent vaginal delivery (VD) or cesarean section (CS) at a single center. Two delivery-mode-specific prediction models for SUI at 1 year postpartum were developed using LASSO regression followed by multivariable logistic regression. Independent pred

BACKGROUND Pregnancy following bone marrow transplantation (BMT) and treatment for gastric cancer is rare because of gonadotoxic conditioning regimens, major abdominal surgery, and the overall burden of chronic illness. Reports of spontaneous twin pregnancy after both allogeneic BMT and gastrectomy are exceptionally uncommon. CASE REPORT We describe the case of a 22-year-old woman with a history of severe aplastic anemia treated with allogeneic BMT (February 2022), who subsequently underwent subtotal gastrectomy for gastric adenocarcinoma (May 2022). She conceived spontaneously with a dichorio
