Congenital Mullerian anomalies are rare developmental defects that result in malformation of the fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina. The bicornuate uterus is one of the many variants of Mullerian anomalies, defined as having an external fundal indentation of greater than one centimeter. Pelvic ultrasound has a sensitivity of 99% for identifying bicornuate uteruses and is the predominant imaging device used for diagnosis. The cervical and uterine cavity anatomy in patients with a bicornuate uterus varies. The effect of maternal uterine structure on offspring development has been poorly

OBJECTIVE: Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare genetic syndrome with a wide spectrum of clinical features in early life. Late diagnoses are still present. We characterized the perinatal and neonatal features of PWS, compared them with those of healthy newborns and assessed the prenatal and neonatal differences between the genetic subtypes.
DESIGN: A cohort study in children with PWS. The prevalence of variables was compared with healthy infants (PLUTO cohort) and to population statistics from literature.
PATIENTS: 244 infants with PWS and 365 healthy infants.
MEASUREMENTS: Data on prenata

BACKGROUND: Women pregnant with a breech-presenting foetus at term are at increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. The most common intervention used to improve neonatal outcomes is planned delivery by caesarean section. But this is not always possible, and some women prefer to plan a vaginal birth. A number of providers have proposed alternative interventions, such as delivery protocols or specialist teams, but heterogeneity in reported outcomes and their measurements prevents meaningful comparisons. The aim of this paper is to present a protocol for a study to develop a Breech Core Outco

BACKGROUND: Maternal and neonatal outcomes of trial of labor after cesarean delivery of twins are similar to those of singleton trials of labor after cesarean delivery. However, previous studies did not stratify outcomes by second-twin presentation on admission to labor.
OBJECTIVE: To examine maternal and neonatal outcomes following trial of labor after cesarean delivery in twins with vertex-nonvertex presentation.
STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective multicenter study was conducted including data on deliveries occurring between the years 2005 and 2020. We included trials of labor after a previous

BACKGROUND: In many countries, vaginal breech labor at term is an option in selected cases. However, the safety of vaginal breech labor in preterm is still unclear. Therefore our study aimed to evaluate the safety of vaginal breech labor in late preterm deliveries.
DESIGN: A retrospective register-based study.
SETTING: Maternity hospitals in Finland, 2004-2017.
PARTICIPANTS: The study population included 762 preterm breech deliveries at 32 + 0-36 + 6 gestational weeks according to the mode of delivery, 535 (70.2%) of them were born vaginally in breech presentation, and 227 (29.8%) were deli

OBJECTIVE: This study documents 2000 to 2017 trends in stillbirth rates and changes in associations between known maternal and fetal risk factors and stillbirths for 2000 to 2002 versus 2015 to 2017 in the United States.
STUDY DESIGN: We conducted a retrospective, population-based analysis of stillbirths and live-births using national vital statistics data. We calculated annual stillbirth rates overall and by gestational age; and examined stillbirth rates by maternal age, race-ethnicity, and state for 2000 to 2002 versus 2015 to 2017. We used Chi-squared tests to examine associations between

BACKGROUND: Breech presentation delivery approach is a controversial issue in obstetrics. How to cope with breech delivery (vaginal or C-section) has been discussed to find the safest in terms of morbidity. The aim of this study was to assess the risks of foetal and maternal mortality and perinatal morbidity associated with vaginal delivery against elective caesarean in breech presentations, as reported in observational studies.
METHODS: Studies assessing perinatal morbidity and mortality associated with breech presentations births. Cochrane, Medline, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Cuide

PURPOSE: Previous studies have examined the optimal mode of breech delivery extensively, but there is a scarcity of publications focusing on the birth injuries of neonates born in breech presentation. This study aimed to examine birth injury in breech deliveries.
METHODS: In this retrospective register-based nationwide cohort study, data on birth injuries in vaginal breech deliveries with singleton live births were compared to cesarean section with breech presentation and cephalic vaginal delivery between 2004 and 2017 in Finland. The data were retrieved from the National Medical Birth Regist

OBJECTIVES: Caesarean section (CS) rates in middle- and high-income countries are rising partly due to maternal request. This study aimed to explore the personal and professional attitudes of midwives and nurses towards women's delivery choices, interventions and neonatal care.
METHODS: Midwifery and nursing staff at the Coombe hospital were asked to complete a questionnaire concerning decisions for elective CS and neonatal care. The midwives' responses were divided into multiparous and nulliparous according to their own parity.
RESULTS: Multiparae and nulliparae did not differ on their pers

Women constitute a large population group in any country and they are the vulnerable or special risk group. The risk is associated with child-bearing. The purpose of antenatal care is to detect early the high risk cases from a large group of antenatal women and to arrange special skilled care for them. Aim of this cross sectional descriptive type of observational study was to find out the proportion of risk factors among women attending antenatal checkup unit of a tertiary level hospital and carried out in the antenatal checkup unit of Model Family Planning Clinic of Mymensingh Medical College

BACKGROUND: The neonatal period is the time with the highest risk of neonatal and infant mortality. The COVID-19 pandemic diverted resources from routine maternal health services, which raises the possibility of neonatal near misses (NNMs). To implement prompt treatments that could improve the standard of infant care and lower neonatal mortality, it has been theorized that pinpointing the determinants of NNM during this outbreak is crucial. In light of this, the current study identified the determinants of NNM in neonates delivered in public hospitals of Ilu Abba Bor Zone, South West Ethiopia.

BACKGROUND: Multiple benefits for both, mother and baby have been reported from immediate skin-to-skin care (SSC). The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of SSC on operative time and blood loss in primary cesarean births for breech presentation.
METHODS: A SSC protocol for cesarean birth was implemented in our institution on February 25, 2019. In this single-center retrospective cohort study, we compared the outcomes of planned primary cesarean births for breech presentation at term before and after its implementation.
RESULTS: Data from 110 women who had a cesarean birth for bre

BACKGROUND: Vaginal breech delivery (VBD) has been widely discouraged over the last two decades due to associated neonatal risks. However, many gynaecologists are still challenging this approach, at least in selected settings.
OBJECTIVE: To study short-term neonatal outcomes in singleton pregnancies undergoing VBD.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective cohort study conducted on singleton pregnancies who delivered in breech presentation between 2012 and 2019. Neonatal complications in terms of mortality, umbilical artery (UA) pH, 5-min Apgar score, and postnatal admission to neonatal intensive

Caudal duplication syndrome (CDS) is a rare congenital anomaly in which a wide spectrum of malformations ranging from partial or isolated to complete duplication of caudal organs in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), genitourinary tract (GUT), and spinal and neural systems occur. Its exact cause is unknown, however various factors such as genetic disorders and conjoined twinning are mentioned in the etiology of CDS. Second-trimester anomaly scan can diagnose this anomaly prenatally. This case report describes a primi postnatal patient with CDS without any neurological symptoms. She gave birth t

INTRODUCTION: in Zimbabwe, perinatal mortality is a major public health problem. Harare City data showed increase in stillbirth rate trend from 4/1000 live births in 2014 to 6/1000 live births in 2018, failing to meet the country's target of reducing stillbirth rate by 40%. We analysed the characteristics of stillbirths from 2015 to 2019 in Harare City.
METHODS: we conducted a retrospective analytical cross-sectional study using secondary data from Harare City Health Department's 12 baby-delivery polyclinics. Fourteen key informants were interviewed to verify information obtained. Using Epi-i

BACKGROUND: Breech births are associated with a high rate of hypoxic injury, in part due to cord occlusion during emergence. Maximum time intervals and guidelines oriented toward earlier intervention have been proposed in a Physiological Breech Birth Algorithm. We wished to further test and refine the Algorithm for use in a clinical trial.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective case-control study in a London teaching hospital, including 15 cases and 30 controls, during the period of April 2012 to April 2020. Our sample size was powered to test the hypothesis that exceeding recommended time lim

BACKGROUND: There is widespread concern around the rising rates of cesarean births (CBs), especially among first-time mothers, despite evidence suggesting increased morbidities after birth by cesarean. There are uncertainties around factors associated with rising rates of CBs among first-time mothers in Ireland, and insight into these is essential for understanding the rising trend in CBs. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the factors associated with CBs in nulliparous women.
METHODS: A prospective cohort study was conducted in three maternity hospitals in the Republic of Ireland betwee
