BACKGROUND: Activating variants in GUCY2C increase cyclic GMP signaling in enterocytes, driving chloride rich luminal secretion and impaired sodium absorption. Affected neonates can present with prenatal bowel dilatation and severe postnatal fluid losses that mimic mechanical obstruction.
CASE REPORT: We describe a term male infant with fetal ultrasound and MRI evidence of markedly dilated bowel loops and severe polyhydramnios. Fetal testing identified a de novo heterozygous GUCY2C missense variant (c.2732 A>G). After birth, profuse intestinal secretion combined with profound intestinal hypot

OBJECTIVES: The postnatal phenotypes of fetuses with 16p11.2 microdeletion mainly include autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, and intellectual disability, often accompanied by obesity and congenital malformations. However, studies on the prenatal phenotypes of fetuses with 16p11.2 microdeletion remain limited. This study aims to investigate the correlation between prenatal ultrasound findings and genetic characteristics of fetuses with 16p11.2 microdeletion, thereby providing evidence for clinical genetic counseling.
METHODS: Clinical data of 60 fetuses prenatally diagnosed with 16p11.2

BACKGROUND: Chromosome 9 abnormalities are rare. Full trisomy 9 is mostly incompatible with postnatal survival, whereas mosaic trisomy 9 permits survival with highly variable clinical manifestations. Triple-line mosaicism involving both full trisomy 9 and structural chromosome 9 abnormalities is exceptionally rare.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 1-year-old girl, conceived via IVF, had normal nuchal translucency and NIPT. Prenatal ultrasound showed a single umbilical artery, lower abdominal cyst, borderline ventriculomegaly at 28 weeks, and late polyhydramnios. She was born at 40 weeks, 3,430 g, 49 cm,

BACKGROUND: The alcohol industry builds engagement with United Nations (UN) organisations to enhance its corporate image and influence policy, supported by the UN's endorsement of public-private partnerships (PPPs). However, the extent of the alcohol industry's relationships with the UN remains unclear due to limited reporting.
METHODS: We searched the websites of 57 UN-affiliated entities and 18 transnational alcohol corporations (TNACs) for evidence of partnerships or relationships between the UN and the alcohol industry. We summarised the UN entities and TNACs involved in formal partnershi

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in monochorionic twin pregnancies, arising from placental vascular anastomoses and representing a frequent indication for referral to fetal therapy centers. Despite advances in ultrasound assessment and fetoscopic laser therapy, variability in diagnostic thresholds, Doppler interpretation, and recognition of overlapping phenotypes-particularly twin anemia-polycythemia sequence and selective fetal growth restriction-continues to complicate clinical decision-making and limits meaningful comparison of outcomes across

INTRODUCTION: Fetomaternal hemorrhage (FMH), a life-threatening obstetric complication with high concealment and poor prognosis, is mostly postnatally diagnosed.
CASE REPORT: This case reports the 30 years old primigravida at 32 + 1 weeks, preoperatively identified with FMH via combined indicators: markedly elevated maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) (16698.2 μg/L post-dilution), decreased fetal movement, two non-reassuring fetal heart rate tracings, and polyhydramnios. Emergency cesarean section was done. The neonate had severe anemia (Hb 5.9 g/dL) and metabolic acidosis, with Hb rising

BACKGROUND: Reactive hypoglycemia (RH) or low oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) value has been linked with polyhydramnios and SGA, which is possibly due to placental dysfunction and glucose dysmetabolism. This study aims to investigate the perinatal outcomes associated with placental dysfunction and first-trimester uterine artery resistance in pregnancies with RH or a low 2-hour value on OGTT.
METHODS: Pregnant women undergoing OGTT screening after 24 gestational weeks between 2021 and 2023 in maternity units in Indonesia were retrospectively evaluated. Women with multifetal pregnancy, pre-p

Noonan syndrome (NS) is a rare multisystemic condition among the RASopathy group, characterized by a broad phenotypic spectrum and genetic variability. It results from pathogenic variants in genes regulating the RAS/MAPK pathway, affecting cell proliferation and differentiation. While the PTPN11 gene accounts for approximately 50% of cases, other genes, including MRAS, have been implicated. NS presents with features such as facial dysmorphism, short stature, and cardiac anomalies. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a major contributor to mortality, with specific variants conferring higher ri

Holoprosencephaly (HPE) is a rare congenital brain malformation resulting from incomplete separation of the cerebral hemispheres. It has an estimated prevalence of 1 in 10,000 live births. We report a case involving an 18-year-old primigravida at 28 weeks of gestation. Prenatal ultrasound revealed polyhydramnios, marked hydrocephalus, and absence of the cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres, with preservation of the brainstem. Cesarean delivery was performed, and the female neonate exhibited hypotelorism, arhinia, cleft lip and palate, and a single frontal bony plate (neonatal weight, head circu
