Risk Factors and Predictors of Mechanical Ventilation in Neonates With Meconium Aspiration Syndrome: A Retrospective Study at King Salman Armed Forces Hospital, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Background Meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) is a critical neonatal condition predominantly associated with term and post-term pregnancies, characterized by the aspiration of meconium-stained amniotic fluid (MSAF) leading to severe respiratory distress. Despite advances in obstetric and neonatal care, MAS remains a significant cause of neonatal morbidity, particularly in settings with limited access to advanced neonatal care. Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of mechanical ventilation and explore potential predictors for respiratory support in neonates diagnosed with MAS

Effects of early- and late- neuraxial analgesia on multiparous women: a retrospective monocentric study.

BACKGROUND: The mechanism underlying maternal fever and prolonged labor progression associated with neuraxial analgesia (NA) remains elusive, raising concerns among certain pregnant women regarding the application of NA during vaginal delivery. This study aimed to investigate the impact of early and late NA on maternal and neonatal outcomes in multiparous women. METHODS: This retrospective study collected data from 1119 multiparous women with singleton pregnancies, full term and live births at our labor and delivery center between August 1st, 2021 and July 31st, 2022. Based on the timing of N

History of Cholestasis Is Not Associated with Worsening Outcomes in Subsequent Pregnancy with Cholestasis.

OBJECTIVE: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes including intrauterine fetal demise, spontaneous preterm labor, and meconium-stained amniotic fluid. Studies have yet to determine if patients with a history of pregnancy complicated by cholestasis had an association with more severe adverse outcomes in a subsequent pregnancy complicated by cholestasis. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study of multiparous, singleton, nonanomalous live gestations complicated by cholestasis at Elmhurst Hospital Center from 2005 to 2019. We compared rates of adverse

Prevalence of episiotomy and associated factors among women who gave birth at public health facilities in Jigjiga town, eastern Ethiopia: A cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: Maternal morbidity and mortality has remained a major public health concern worldwide. Basic emergency obstetric care is the primary intervention to prevent obstetric complications and maternal death. Episiotomy is one of the basic obstetrical procedures used to facilitate vaginal delivery, shorten the second stage of labor and prevent complications. However, there is a paucity of evidence on the prevalence and factors associated with episiotomy among women who gave birth in eastern Ethiopia. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of episiotomy and its associate

Management of Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery.

Pregnancy dating is determined by the patient's last menstrual period or an ultrasound measurement. A full-term pregnancy is considered 37 weeks' gestation or more. Spontaneous labor begins when regular painful uterine contractions result in a cervical change. Active labor begins at 6 cm dilation and is marked by more predictable, accelerated cervical change. In the absence of pregnancy complications, intermittent fetal auscultation may be considered as an alternative to continuous electronic fetal monitoring, which is associated with a high false-positive rate. Intravenous antibiotic prophyla

Pregnancy outcomes in correlation with placental histopathology in pregnancies complicated by fetal growth restriction with vs. without reduced fetal movements.

PURPOSE: Fetal movements are crucial indicators of fetal well-being, with reduced fetal movements (RFM) suggesting potential fetal compromise. Fetal growth restriction (FGR), often linked to placental insufficiency, is a major cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to investigate the neonatal, labor, and placental outcomes of FGR pregnancies with and without RFM at term. METHODS: In this retrospective study, data from all term, singleton deliveries with FGR and concomitant RFM were obtained and compared to an equal control group of FGR without RFM. Utilizing machine learning to predict the risk factors of episiotomy in parturient women.

BACKGROUND: Episiotomy has specific indications that, if properly followed, can effectively prevent women from experiencing severe lacerations that may result in significant complications like anal incontinence. However, the risk factors related to episiotomy has been the center of much debate in the medical field in the past few years. OBJECTIVE: The present study used a machine learning model to predict the factors that put women at the risk of having episiotomy using intrapartum data. STUDY DESIGN: This was a retrospective cohort study design. Factors such as age, educational level, resid
