Nuclear envelope (NE) reassembly is essential for the zygote-to-totipotency transition in mammalian embryos. Beyond its classical roles in nuclear transport and maintenance of the RanGTP gradient, the function of RanGAP1 in embryonic NE reassembly has remained elusive.
