OBJECTIVE: To identify risk factors associated with poorer immediate neonatal outcomes among growth-restricted neonates.
METHODS: Records of all 530 growth-restricted neonates born between January 1989 and February 1995 were reviewed. Outcomes included resuscitation measures, Apgar scores, and umbilical blood gas values. Neonates were assigned to one of six anesthetic groups, and outcomes were compared. Predictors of poorer outcomes were examined using logistic and linear regression.

To produce a prolonged decrease in blood pressure, we have developed a nonpathogenic adeno-associated viral vector (AAV) with the antisense DNA for AT1-R. AAV has many advantages over other viral vectors. AAV does not stimulate inflammation or immune reaction. AAV enters nondividing cells and does not replicate. The results of a four month descriptive study on low Birth weight (LBW) deliveries in Nyanza Provincial General Hospital, Kisumu from 15th March to 30th July 1987 are presented. The incidence of LBW was 15.0%. Premature labour accounted for 55.3% while term small for gestational age contributes 44.7% of all LBW babies. 4.8% of the mothers of LBW babies were teenagers. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate myomas for ultrasound-documented size, location, position, and relation to the placenta, and to relate these findings to complications during pregnancy, at delivery, and in the puerperium.
METHODS: Among 12,708 pregnant patients who had ultrasound scans, 492 had uterine myomas. Single myomas were found in 88% of cases and multiple myomas in 12%. This study investigates in detail how mitral cell activity is distributed during the respiratory cycle in freely breathing animals and how this temporal pattern changes under odour stimulation.
