212 consecutive pregnancies are reviewed in previously infertile women. 96 had conceived following treatment, 21 in a "rest cycle" after treatment, 60 during investigations and 35 before investigations were started. There were 25 miscarriages (11.8%), 13 following hormone treatment. There were 7 multiple pregnancies, 2 sets of triplets and 5 sets of twins. The incidence of an array of maternal, obstetric and neonatal events occurring in the Dunedin City population in the six years from 1 August 1967 is presented. This population was not truly representative of the total New Zealand population. The total births in Dunedin City were 10,091 and the perinatal mortality was 17.5 per 1000 total births. This study based on hospital records is an analysis of 7433 deliveries in Adjamé Maternity Hospital, Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The incidence of low birthweight babies is 14.1%. Mean birthweight and height were shown to increase significantly from parity 1 to 9. Lowest mean birthweight and highest incidence of low birthweight babies were observed in primiparae. Incidence of stillbirths and abortions according to parity are described and an estimate of infant mortality rate has been attempted.

A series of 14 triplet pregnancies has been analyzed. The older triplet mother had a better chance of fetal survival than the younger mother. Parity did not appear to have much effect on fetal survival but the maturity of the infants at birth had more influence than did birth weight, on their survival. We compared 60 twin pregnancies treated by bed rest, 37 treated by cervical suture and 36 receiving no active treatment. The incidence of the spontaneous onset of labour before 36 weeks of gestation, the mean gestational age at delivery, mean birth weights of the first and second twins and the incidence of 'small-for-dates babies' were similar in all three groups.

Factors associated with spontaneous premature birth were investigated in 459 consecutive twin deliveries at this hospital. Low maternal age, low parity, and zygosity were significantly related to the incidence of this complication. The number of previous abortions, sex combinations and related birth order, and mode of presentation of the first twin were not related to the incidence of spontaneous premature delivery. Thirteen patients with pituitary tumors had a total of seventeen pregnancies. Nine of these patients were treated prior to conception (four by radiation therapy, four by hypophysectomy, and one with lergotrile); four patients received no treatment. The untreated group had a total of six pregnancies, two of which were complicated by visual symptoms which regressed spontaneously after delivery. In the course of sterility therapy 375 pregnancies were observed in 296 patients. 63 women conceived twice or more. At the first visite the mean age of the patients was 25,8 years, the mean duration of sterility 2,7 years. A primary sterility was observed in 207 and a secondary sterility in 98 cases. A detailed retrospective analysis was made of the records of 486 preterm infants, who accounted for 5-1% of all births during 1973 and 1974. Whereas preterm delivery did not contribute to perinatal mortality in terms of stillbirth, it outweighed all other causes in terms of early neonatal deaths. A retrospective study of congenital malformations in the offspring of 20 women who received antiepileptic drugs during pregnancy is presented. Of 56 births, 9 children (16%) were born with malformations. Four children were born dead or died shortly after delivery. Congenital heart disease, cleft lip with or without cleft palate, neural tube defects, and skeletal abnormalities were the commonest anomalies found.
