Case Report: Rare case of first-trimester uterine rupture at 9 weeks' gestation following multiple hysteroscopic surgeries and a prior cesarean section.

Uterine rupture is a rare but life-threatening obstetric emergency, with most cases occurring during late pregnancy or labor, particularly in patients with a history of uterine surgery. This report presents an exceptionally rare case of spontaneous uterine rupture at 9 weeks' gestation in a 36-year-old woman with a complex surgical history, including a midtrimester cesarean delivery for placenta accreta and multiple subsequent hysteroscopic adhesiolysis procedures. The patient presented with acute abdominal pain and hemorrhagic shock, highlighting the diagnostic challenges of early gestational

Determination of Incidence and Risk Factors of Hypotension Following Spinal Anesthesia During Cesarean Delivery in Patients With Preeclampsia: A Prospective Observational Study.

Background Preeclampsia is associated with high-risk pregnancies and significant maternal morbidity. Although the incidence of hypotension is lower in preeclamptic women, its occurrence can lead to adverse maternal outcomes due to altered vascular physiology. This study aimed to determine the incidence of hypotension following spinal anesthesia in preeclamptic women and to identify associated demographic, obstetric, and clinical risk factors. Methods This prospective observational study included 180 preeclamptic women undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Hypotension was defined

Long-term neurological health of the term offspring born via cesarean section for non-reassuring fetal monitoring.

PURPOSE: While some evidence suggests that intrapartum fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring is associated with a reduction in intrapartum death, a reduction in long-term neurological impairment has not been proven. In this study, we sought to evaluate the offspring long-term neurological morbidity of children born via cesarean delivery (CD) for non-reassuring FHR (NRFHR) indication. METHODS: A population-based cohort analysis was performed comparing long-term neurological morbidity of term children born via CD for NRFHR as compared with children born via CD for non-progressive labor (NPL), at a

Comparison between sufentanil and hydromorphone for postoperative analgesia after cesarean section: a propensity-score matched analysis.

BACKGROUND: Cesarean delivery often causes significant postoperative pain, which can affect recovery and increase the risk of chronic pain and prolonged opioid use. This study compared commonly used hydromorphone and sufentanil regarding postoperative outcomes after cesarean delivery. METHOD: This multi-center retrospective cohort study, conducted across multiple centers in China between June 2022 and June 2025, included patients undergoing elective cesarean sections who received patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) with either hydromorphone or sufentanil. Postoperative pain, measured by the nu

Coverage and factors associated with receipt of early newborn postnatal care components in Afghanistan: findings from the 2022-2023 multiple indicator cluster survey.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal mortality remains high in low‑ and middle‑income countries, where early postnatal care (PNC) within 48 hours can avert many deaths. Yet neither the national coverage of newborn PNC nor the factors associated with its receipt have been assessed. OBJECTIVES: We assessed the coverage of newborn PNC components and the factors associated with their receipt in Afghanistan. METHODS: We conducted a cross‑sectional analysis of 11,965 mother-infant dyads from the 2022-2023 Afghanistan Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey. The outcome was coded 'yes' if the infant received at least tw

Analgesic efficacy and safety of transversus abdominis plane block in women undergoing cesarean delivery: An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Intrathecal morphine (ITM) remains the benchmark for post-cesarean analgesia but is frequently associated with opioid-related adverse effects. Regional analgesia techniques such as transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) are increasingly used as an opioid-sparing alternative. Multiple systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRMAs) have evaluated TAPB efficacy, yet findings remain fragmented, heterogeneous, and methodologically inconsistent. This umbrella review synthesizes and critically appraises the highest-level evidence on the analgesic efficacy and safety of TAPB after cesarean delivery (C

Enhanced recovery after surgery for cesarean delivery: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials with trial sequential analysis.

BACKGROUND: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols have improved perioperative care across multiple surgical specialties. In obstetrics, ERAS pathways for cesarean delivery have been increasingly adopted; however, their comparative effectiveness versus standard care remains uncertain. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis to compare ERAS protocols with standard perioperative care in cesarean delivery. METHODS: We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases for Randomized Clinical Trials (RCTs)
