The quality of prenatal care offered in health centers (HC) and in the hospital (H) have been compared. Two samples were evaluated. One consisted of 476 pregnant women seen in HC and another of 213 who were seen in H. Serious infectious complications after caesarean sections may be avoided by a meticulous operative technique. The closure of the uterotomy with resorbable sutures placed at a distance of 15 to 20 mm to approximate the wound edges without tension creates an effective barrier of viable myometrium which prevents the progression of intracavitary inflammation. We present 12 cases with spontaneous healing of ureterovaginal (11 cases) and ureterouterine (1 case) fistulas. In every case disappearance of the fistula with normal renal function and restoration of the excretory tract was obtained. IVP and retrograde pyelographs were performed in every case. We have evaluated a standardized prospective system for managing episodes of fever in pediatric patients with indwelling central vein catheters being used primarily for delivery of parenteral nutrients. Over an 18-month period 72 such patients, accounting for 4347 "catheter days," were followed. Thirty-two patients experienced a total of 88 episodes of fever. Certain infections, such as UTI, may have an increased incidence during pregnancy owing to physiological changes. Between 2 and 10% of pregnant women have covert or asymptomatic bacteriuria which is associated with an increased incidence of acute symptomatic UTI in later pregnancy if left untreated. 225 women with diabetes in pregnancy were managed by a team of obstetricians, physicians (endocrinologists) and paediatricians from the National University of Singapore. In this study all deliveries with premature rupture of the membranes (VBS) between 1978 and the midst of 1981 were compared and statistically analysed using a control collective, which consisted of the sum of the respective following delivery.
