OBJECTIVE: To provide a comprehensive overview of predisposing factors and clinical-microbiological profile of neonatal corneal ulcer.
METHODS: The literature search was undertaken in PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases on published papers from inception to May 31, 2023. BACKGROUND: The congenital tarsal kink syndrome is a rare form of congenital upper eyelid entropion associated with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal or central nervous system disorders. This syndrome must be recognized and surgically treated as a perinatal emergency to avoid associated complications-corneal ulcer, corneal leucoma, secondary amblyopia and decreased vision among children.

Duplication of extraocular muscles is a particularly rare congenital anomaly that has been rarely reported in the literature.
