PURPOSE: In this report, we aim to present an unusual reappearance of hyaloidal artery remnant with atypical localization during the follow-up of an infant who underwent indirect laser photocoagulation for type 1 ROP.
METHODS: Retrospective case report.
RESULTS: We report a case of reappearance of an eccentrically located hyaloidal stalk in the macular area during the follow-up period, 2 weeks after laser photocoagulation for type 1 ROP subsequently progressed to cause foveal distortion, which is successfully removed with a lens-sparing vitrectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge,

BACKGROUND: Infantile nystagmus syndrome can be associated with an afferent problem (anterior or posterior segment) or constitute an isolated idiopathic disorder. With a normal ophthalmic examination, current guidelines recommend electroretinography (ERG) rather than magnetic resonance (MRI) for preliminary workup. Given the limited use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in preverbal children, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of handheld OCT (HH-OCT) in the initial diagnostic evaluation of infantile nystagmus.
METHODS: In this cross-sectional case series, the medical reco

Different from classical autosomal recessive Wolfram syndrome, Wolfram-like syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder caused by a heterozygous mutation in the WFS1 gene. In this case, a 7-year-old male child presented to the eye clinic due to vision loss that could not be corrected, discovered during a routine examination. The child had experienced hearing impairment since early childhood, leading to cochlear implantation. Ophthalmic examination revealed optic disc atrophy in both eyes. Optical coherence tomography imaging demonstrated a distinctive thickening of the outer plexiform layer wit

Papilledema is swelling of the optic disk due to fluid accumulation around the optic nerve and is commonly used to detect increased intracranial (ICP) in craniosynostosis. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and utility of papilledema detection in patients with single-suture, multi-suture, and syndromic craniosynostosis and the differences before and after surgical intervention. A retrospective review of ophthalmology examinations of patients diagnosed with craniosynostosis treated between 2008 and 2023 was performed. Demographics, diagnosis, and operative data were collected. A total of
