Lysosomal metabolism in pancreatic cancer and its crosstalk with host physiology.

Transcription factors from the family of Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (STAT) are activated by numerous cytokines. Two members of this family, STAT5A and STAT5B (collectively called STAT5), have gained prominence in that they are activated by a wide variety of cytokines such as interleukins, erythropoietin, growth hormone, and prolactin. Furthermore, constitutive STAT5 activation is observed in the majority of leukemias and many solid tumors. Inactivation studies in mice as well as human mutations have provided insight into many of STAT5's functions. Disruption of cytokine

Molecular profiling and phenotypic evaluation of thermo-sensitive genic male sterility genes for high-yielding rice hybrids (Oryza sativa L.).

Temperature-sensitive genic male sterility (TGMS) is crucial for boosting rice productivity and ensuring food security. In this study, we evaluated the morphological traits and genetic diversity of 57 rice TGMS lines under fertility-inducing (Gudalur) and sterility-inducing (Coimbatore) environments. Significant variations were observed in yield and floral characteristics, with flowering times ranging from 62.3 to 152.0 days. Lines such as TNAU 16S and TNAU 93S exhibited shorter plant heights and durations, along with higher numbers of productive tillers, making them promising candidates for h

Single-Cell RNA sequencing reveals mitochondrial dysfunction in microtia chondrocytes.

Microtia is a congenital malformation characterized by underdevelopment of the external ear. While chondrocyte dysfunction has been implicated in microtia, the specific cellular abnormalities remain poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate mitochondrial dysfunction in microtia chondrocytes using single-cell RNA sequencing. Cartilage samples were obtained from patients with unilateral, non-syndromic microtia and healthy controls. Single-cell RNA sequencing was performed using the 10 × Genomics platform. Bioinformatic analyses including cell type identification, trajectory analysis, an

Analysis of 42 bilateral microtia reconstruction: Comparative study and surgical characteristics.

Microtia reconstruction is a demanding procedure owing to the structural complexity of the ear. Ten percent of microtia patients have bilateral involvement, which complicates the reconstructive procedure because of the limited amount of donor tissue and necessity for ear canal reconstruction. We conducted a comparative study between patients with unilateral and bilateral microtia as well as a detailed analysis of patients with bilateral involvement to clarify the features of bilateral auricular reconstruction. Patients who underwent ear reconstruction for congenital microtia between June 2001

An innovative corrective method: Reutilization of auricular fistula in microtia reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: Auricular fistulas, typically excised due to infection risk, consist of intact skin and soft tissue when uninfected. A large fistula lumen with sufficient tissue coverage over cartilage and no infection during stable periods may be viable for reuse. This article explores using non-infected fistulas as soft tissue sources for microtia reconstruction. METHOD: Between January 2020 and October 2023, a total of 24 patients diagnosed with concha-type microtia were enrolled in this retrospective study. The correction of ear deformities is achieved by utilizing tissue harvested from the a

Comparative Assessment of Effectiveness of Various Fixation Methods for Auricular Prostheses.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

BACKGROUND: The absence of an intact auricle can lead to both functional impairments and psychological distress, prompting individuals to withdraw from social interactions. Consequently, there is a pressing need for functional and aesthetic rehabilitation in these patients to restore their psychosocial well-being. When surgical reconstruction is not optimal, an auricular prosthesis can be fabricated and fixed with glue to the skin or with a magnetic fixation on osteointegrated implants. OBJECTIVES: This comparative study aims to evaluate the efficacy of auricle defect restoration using prosth

Influence of vascular anatomy and perfusion on complications in the first stage of total auricular reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: The aesthetic quality of total auricular reconstruction for microtia has improved significantly in recent years, resulting in favourable outcomes for many patients. However, complications such as skin necrosis and infection remain. Adequate skin perfusion is essential to prevent these complications, but the vascular anatomy of patients with microtia is poorly understood. We evaluated the relationship between vascular anatomy assessed by indocyanine green fluorescence angiography performed during the first stage of autologous total ear reconstruction for microtia and postoperative c
