Background Globally, the prevalence of protruding ears is relatively frequent. Ear deformities manifest due to underdevelopment of the antihelical fold, conchal hypertrophy, and/or an obtuse conchoscaphal angle. The availability of multiple approaches proves that there isn't a single optimal accepted procedure. The Modified Stenström otoplasty technique supports the surgeon in the management of underdeveloped antihelix fold, conchal hypertrophy, and obtuse conchoscaphal angle among other deformities. We are the first to evaluate the clinical effects and measure the satisfaction rate post-otopl

No single otoplasty technique can be applied to all prominent ear deformities. The factors determining the type of operative method are based on the surgeon's preference for and confidence in the technique as well as long-term results. However, all cutting or scoring techniques include a risk of development of undesired edges, defects, or deformities on the ear being operated on. One of the patients' complaints and dissatisfactions after otoplasty is an overcorrected ear in its upper half. This condition leads to the loss of helix and prominent and conspicuous crus superior and antihelix. The

BACKGROUND: Standard methods of otoplasty may risk anatomical distortion. Previous work showcased a novel, cartilage-sparing technique. This study aimed to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the method in a larger cohort.
METHODS: This retrospective study included patients undergoing otoplasty by a single surgeon using a single technique between January 2021 and December 2023. Eligible patients were aged >5 years and had prominent or constricted or cup ears, forming a 2 cm distance from the mastoid. Surgical techniques included novel key-point sutures. Minimum follow-up was 6 months. Dat

BACKGROUND: Prominent ears are the most common congenital anomaly of the head and neck. A complete understanding of the definition of prominent ears is necessary. The present retrospective study described guiding sutures to hold the antihelix in a temporary corrected position before placing the permanent Mustardé sutures.
METHODS: This study was performed between January 2021 and February 2023. All patients with prominent ear deformities subjected to guiding sutures and Mustardé-based otoplasty were included. The surgical-related outcomes and surgeons' satisfaction were evaluated. The patient

Prominent ears are a common deformity that can cause significant social and psychological distress, especially at a young age. Otoplasty changes the shape and, in some cases, the size of the ear, by working on two crucial points of the anatomy: the hypertrophy of the conchal bowl and the undeveloped antihelix fold. Generally speaking, there are two main approaches to auriculoplasty: cartilage cutting and cartilage sparing techniques; cartilage sparing techniques are safer but with limited aesthetic results. Despite the simplicity of this surgery, complications such as irreversible distortion o

Prominent ear deformities often result from a combination of hypertrophic conchal cartilage and an underdeveloped antihelical fold. Traditional otoplasty techniques, such as antihelical folding sutures and conchal setback maneuvers, may introduce tension and risk of relapse, leading to suboptimal aesthetic outcomes. The PILLARS CONCEPT: represents an alternative surgical approach specifically designed to address hypertrophic concha, ensuring stable and natural results. This study aimed to present the Pillars Concept as an alternative method for correcting hypertrophic conchal cartilage, highlig

UNLABELLED: The progressive neurodegenerative disease known as Alzheimer's disease (AD) is typified by behavioral abnormalities and cognitive deterioration. In the current investigation, the preventive potential of a combination formulation of alkyl glycerol (AKG) and Turbinaria ornata methanolic extract against aluminum chloride (AlCl₃)-induced neurotoxicity in Wistar rats was examined. Groups 1 (control), 2 (AlCl₃, 100 mg/kg), 3 and 4 (AlCl₃ + T. ornata methanolic extract at low and high doses, respectively), and 5 and 6 (AlCl₃ + T. ornata methanolic extract + AKG at low and high dosages, re

UNLABELLED: Approximately 5% of the population has protruding ears. An antihelix deficiency or absence is a common cause of ear protrusion. Although there are over 200 techniques to manage prominent ears, there is no evidence to support using dermabraders in this situation. To the author's knowledge, this is one of the first articles to assess the clinical outcome of dermabrader use on patients with prominent ear deformities.
METHODS: An analysis of retrospective medical records was conducted by the senior author on patients with prominent ears treated with our novel dermabrasion technique be

Ear protrusion is the primary indication for otoplasty. Many methods have been developed for addressing this defect, based on cartilage-scoring and excision and suture-fixation techniques. Disadvantages include irreversible distortion of the anatomy, irregularities, or overcorrection, or forward bulging of the conchal bowl. One of the most common long-term sequelae of otoplasty is an unsatisfactory result. A novel, cartilage-sparing, suture-based technique has been developed that aims to minimize the risk of complications and provide a natural-appearing aesthetic result. The method is based on

BACKGROUND: Prominent ears were the most common auricular deformity. Different surgical techniques, such as cartilage-cutting techniques and suturing techniques, are available for treatment. The horizontal mattress suture technique, represented by the Mustard technique, is widely accepted, while the vertical mattress suture technique is rarely discussed in otoplasty.
METHOD: A total of 104 cases of prominent ear deformities were treated from January 2017 to December 2020. Several hypothetical "tension bands" perpendicular to the natural curvature of the antihelix were introduced for the surgi

Prominauris is a common auricular deformity most often due to underdevelopment of the antihelical fold or overdevelopment of the conchal bowl. Significant psychosocial distress may result from prominent ears, leading to the development of a variety of surgical techniques over the years. A thorough understanding of the anatomy of both the normal and prominent ear is crucial for accurate analysis and surgical correction of the deformity. The procedure is well-tolerated and careful preoperative evaluation and adherence to meticulous cartilage-sparing techniques will lead to good results and low c

BACKGROUND: Cartilage-cutting and cartilage-sparing techniques are the two types of otoplasty procedures. Because of the significant risk of haematoma, skin necrosis, and ear deformity, cartilage-cutting techniques have been questioned. As a result; suture-based cartilage-sparing procedures such as Mustarde and Furnas suture procedures have grown in popularity. However, these techniques have a tendency for deformity recurrence due to cartilage memory and suture fatigue, as well as the possibility of suture extrusion and pinpricking sensation of the sutures.
METHODS: In this study, we used a m

BACKGROUND: The EarWell System offers a correction opportunity for infants born with ear anomalies. However, the long-term effectiveness of ear molding remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the long-term effectiveness of this novel technique and to determine the risk factors for recurrence.
METHODS: This retrospective, population-based cohort study was performed from 2017 through 2021. Infants who completed ear molding therapy and were followed up for longer than 6 months were enrolled. The main outcomes were immediate and long-term efficacy, which were graded by two blinded plastic su

BACKGROUND: The prominent ear is a type of congenital ear deformity that can be corrected by a variety of nonsurgical treatments, such as splinting and the taping method. However, there is no objective evaluation method that is universally accepted. The aim of this review is to evaluate objective measurement methods that are used in the available literature to analyze nonsurgical treatment of prominent ears.
METHODS: A systematic review was performed in the MEDLINE and Embase databases in December 2022 and updated on April 2023 according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematics and Meta-A

OBJECTIVE: Ear cartilage, crucial for maintaining ear shape and function, can sometimes undergo damage or deformation, requiring surgical intervention. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of a novel, less invasive cartilage-protective method with the traditional, more invasive cartilage-removal technique.
METHODS: Our study included 64 patients (128 ears). The first group of 32 patients (64 ears) received the new cartilage-protective technique, while the second group of an equal number of patients and ears underwent the traditional method. The newer technique endeavors to retain as much

BACKGROUND: Prominent ears are one of the most well-known facial disfigurements influencing youngsters. Approximately 5% of the population suffers from some degree of ear prominence. More than 200 techniques have been used for the surgical correction of prominent ears, referring that no single "best" method exists and that techniques and modifications will continue to appear.
OBJECTIVES: In this work, we are going to evaluate the results of using a full-thickness cartilage strip, an incomplete cutting technique for the correction of various degrees of the prominent ear.

BACKGROUND: Prominent ear deformity is an autosomal dominant inherited deformity. Surgery is the most effective treatment method for prominent ear patients. Different prominent ear operations have been described in the literature. In this study, it is aimed to compare the transcutaneous fixation-assisted method that we described in prominent ear repair with the classical needle-assisted method.
METHODS: Patients who were operated for bilateral prominent ear deformity between January 2017 and January 2020 were included in the study. Two different approaches were used in the operations. In the

BACKGROUND: Prominent ear deformity occurs in 5% of the general population and has been treated by otoplasty for many years to address the psychosocial challenges of having such a deformity. There is extensive literature but no consensus on the best method to address potential surgical complications, including suture extrusion.
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article was to describe a surgical technique designed to reduce suture extrusion following otoplasty surgery by placing free soft tissue grafts between Mustardé sutures and postauricular skin.
METHODS: Two hundred and eleven patients who un

OBJECTIVE: Prominent ear deformity is one of the aesthetic problems that should be treated due to the psychosocial problems it causes. We aimed to present our results in which we used the combination of Mustarde suture to create an antihelix, conchal resection, and concomastoid suture combination to reduce conchal excess in the light of literature.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 28 cases in which the same otoplasty method was used in 2 separate centers between 2014 and 2020 were included in the study. Elliptic skin excision, antihelix reconstruction with Mustarde suture, and in cases with
