We present two procedures of transcatheter closure: that of an aorto-pulmonary window in a 12-month-old infant with a body weight of 7 kilograms, and that of ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm into the right atrium in an adult patient. In the first case, we applied the muscular ventricular septal defect Cardio-O-Fix, while in the other we applied the patent ductus arteriosus Cardio-O-Fix occluder. The procedures were successful in both patients, and we achieved complete closure of the unwanted shunts.

Aortopulmonary window (APW) is a rare congenital heart malformation. It refers to a connection between the ascending aorta and the pulmonary trunk before bifurcation. We report a case of APW that was detected by prenatal fetal echocardiography. The diagnosis was confirmed postnatally with an additional partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection. Corrective surgery was performed at the age of 1 week. Prenatal diagnosis of APW is important because an operation early after birth is required to prevent congestive heart failure due to high pulmonary blood flow. It is essential to visualize the a

Aortopulmonary window with subaortic stenosis and ventricular septal defect is an uncommon congenital cardiac malformation that is repaired using cardiopulmonary bypass. The authors describe a 3-year-old patient on whom we performed surgery through a minimal right vertical infra-axillary thoracotomy. This minimally invasive surgery is likely to be applicable in a few cases.

Natural history of aortic regurgitation (AR) following transcatheter closure (TCC) of intracardiac or aortopulmonary shunt needs to be explored. AR can appear immediately or later after TCC and may increase or regress. We describe a previously unreported AR development following successful TCC of aortopulmonary window.

A young man presented to our center with dyspnea. Echocardiograpy showed a low ejection fraction and a connection between the ascending aorta and the pulmonary artery. Multislice computed tomography confirmed the diagnosis. He underwent successful repair of the connection.

Aortopulmonary window (APW) is a rare congenital heart defect that requires urgent repair, as it can lead to rapid development of pulmonary hypertension. A 6-day-old boy with a total-defect APW was transferred to our hospital and underwent definitive repair on the 15th day after birth. The ascending aorta and pulmonary trunk were divided to create a larger tissue margin on the aortic side for the next seam. Then, the aortic window was sutured and closed directly, while the large pulmonary defect was reconstructed with a fresh autologous pericardial patch. Although peritoneal dialysis was brief

Transposition of the great arteries with a ventricular septal defect and an associated aortopulmonary window is a rare anatomic combination having a high risk for pulmonary hypertension. Arterial switch with closure of the ventricular septal defect and repair of the aortopulmonary window is the procedure of choice, but a postoperative pulmonary hypertensive crisis is a common occurrence associated with significant morbidity and mortality. This report describes one case of such an anatomic lesion, which was repaired successfully with a fenestrated ventricular septal defect patch as an adjunct t

The aortopulmonary window concomitant with an interrupted aortic arch is a rare occurrence. We successfully performed an emergency one-stage surgical repair of the aortopulmonary window (type 1) concomitant with an interrupted aortic arch (type A) in the case of a very low-birth-weight (1230-g) premature 2-day-old neonate. We describe the diagnosis, surgery, and postoperative course of this rare occurrence.

D-Transposition of great arteries with an aortopulmonary window is a rare congenital anomaly. We describe a case of D-Transposition of great arteries with an aortopulmonary window and multiple ventricular septal defects in a 5-month boy who underwent successful surgical repair.

We present here an infant with an aortopulmonary window associated with an interrupted aortic arch. Single-stage repair with a pulmonary autograft patch for augmentation of the interrupted aortic arch repair was performed. Transpulmonary patch closure was used to repair the aortopulmonary window. A computed tomography scan at the 1-month follow-up demonstrated a reconstructed aortic arch without obstruction, kinking, or any sign of bronchial or branch pulmonary artery compression.

We describe the findings in a neonate with aortic atresia, interruption of the aortic arch between the carotid arteries, and aortopulmonary window. This unusual association changes the anticipated physiology, and helps in the survival. We emphasize the fact that this combination simulates common arterial trunk, both clinically and on echocardiography.

We describe a newborn boy diagnosed with Berry syndrome consisting of a distal aortopulmonary septal defect, aortic origin of the right pulmonary artery, and interruption of the aorta. The child was noted to have reduplication of the right thumb. The child's mother had a claw malformation of her left hand but a normal cardiovascular status. Genetic analysis for TBX5 and SALL4 mutations were negative in both the patient and his mother. This case describes the first ever report of Berry syndrome in an infant with reduplication of the right thumb and familial limb malformation.
