BACKGROUND: Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) accounts for approximately 15% of kidney transplants, but long-term outcomes in patients with PKD who have received a kidney transplant are not well understood.

STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective observational study was conducted on neonates with ARM as an isolated type (group 1), with ≤2 (group 2), and with ≥3 associated malformations (group 3), born between 2009 and 2020. INTRODUCTION: Congenital renal arteriovenous fistula is an abnormal connection between the arterial and venous system. Since the first case described in 1928 by Varela et al, no more than 200 cases have been published.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 45-year-old woman consulted for severe abdominal and low-back pain associated with arterial hypertension. The CT scan showed an infrarenal retroperitoneal lesion with invasion of neighboring structures.
RESULTS: During the abdominal exploration, a vascular-looking lesion of 60 x 34 x 41 mm was identified. It was associated with right nephrectomy.

BACKGROUND: Renovascular hypertension (RVH) associated with renal artery and abdominal aortic narrowings is the third most common cause of pediatric hypertension. While mitotic errors commonly cause aneuploid clones soon after conception, the embryos often normalize as clones are rapidly eliminated. Although generally considered benign, evidence suggests clone elimination as the primary cause of the vertebral, ano-rectal, cardiac, tracheo-esophageal, renal, and limb (VACTERL) association of anomalies, and possibly other adverse outcomes as well. Here, clone elimination-related development disruption at specific locations is used as the basis of a comprehensive theoretical VACTERL association model that also elucidates mitotic mosaic aneuploidy effects.

RATIONALE: Congenital portosystemic shunt (Abernethy malformation) is a rare entity causing the portal blood to drain directly into the systemic circulation, eluding the liver. These shunts arise through disturbances in the embryonic development.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 9-year-old male patient was referred to our department for further evaluation of a vascular malformation which was diagnosed in another facility when the patient was 2 years old, following a routine abdominal ultrasound.
