Coarctation of the abdominal aorta with stenoses or occlusions of the renal and mesenterial arteries was diagnosed in four patients. Three of the patients had severe hypertension and two had intermittent claudication. All the patients had normal arteries in the legs. Two cases of atypical localization of an aortic coarctation are described. One patient was a hypertensive girl with a hypoplastic type of coarctation in the descending aorta. Five cases of renal autotransplantation for renovascular hypertension in children are described. Hypertension in these cases was managed temporarily with medications until the patients grew to a size that made an operative procedure feasible. Following operation the blood pressure returned to normal in three patients without any antihypertensive medication during the period of follow-up (8 months to 6 years). Arterial intimal thickening is common in the end-stage kidneys of patients maintained on hemodialysis. We measured the intimal thickening in patients dialyzed for varying periods and in patients with the malignant phase of essential hypertension and with scleroderma-associated renal failure. The ratio of intimal area to medical area in intrarenal arteries was used as a measure of intimal thickening. A detailed quantitative analysis was made of the lungs from 8 infants dying with bilateral renal agenesis or dysplasia. Besides 55 patients with renal artery stenosis in our department 5 occlusions of renal artery and some other rare but clinically very important causes of renovascular hypertension are reported. All these casuses of an angiotensin-renin mechanism given in general the indication for operative procedure. The very low risk of renovascular revascularisation justifies this operative indication.

The Williams and Beuren's syndrome associates a particuliar facies, a mental debility, a supravalvular aortic stenosis, and frequent vascular anomalies of pulmonary artery as well as aorta and its branches. Relations between this syndrome and congenital idiopathic hypercalcemia seem now determined; the hypertension which has been frequently observed in this last case, seems more unusual in the case of Williams and Beuren's syndrome. The authors report a case about this syndrome in which the hypertension seemed linked to a stenosis of the left renal artery and which has been treated surgically.

Three cases of the syndrome of polycystic disease of the liver and kidneys are present. The definite diagnoses were established by means of angiography. Exploratory laparotomy was avoided. The incidence and symptoms of the syndrome and the diagnostic potentials of the methods of examination are reviewed. It is concluded that detection of either polycystic liver or kidney disease should initiate examination of the other component of the syndrome as well.

In order to establish the relationship between the renal and other factors associated with the hypertension of coarctation of the aorta, aortic strictures were created in two groups of adult dogs (Groups A and B). Two types of renal hamartoma (angiomyolipoma) are presented with emphasis on angiographic findings. Careful analysis of the angiograms can suggest a specific diagnosis.
