Responsibility sharing among children with Type 1 Diabetes and their caregivers: a cross-sectional survey from North India using the Diabetes Family Responsibility Questionnaire (DFRQ).

INTRODUCTION: Reconstruction has evolved long way from primary closure to flaps. As time evolved, better understanding of vascularity of flap has led to the development of innovative reconstructive techniques. These flaps can be raised from various parts of the body for reconstruction and have shown least donor site morbidity. We use one such peroneal artery perforator flap for tongue reconstruction with advantage of thin pliable flap, minimal donor site morbidity and hidden scar. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Our patient 57yrs old lady underwent wide local excision with selective neck dissection. P

When physiology fails: Endocrine and clinical perspectives on complicated pregnancy and parturition outcomes in dogs.

In this review, metabolic, endocrine and molecular dysregulation of canine pregnancy and parturition complications are discussed in a clinical context. The focus on metabolic and hormonal abnormalities of pregnancy includes gestational diabetes mellitus, pregnancy toxemia, hypocalcemia, luteal insufficiency and hypothyroidism, all with potential negative maternal and fetal outcomes. Gestational pseudo-Addisonian crisis, a rather infrequent but severe complication of canine pregnancy with yet unexplained pathophysiology is also presented. While most of these pregnancy complications have long be

Clinical significance of Chlamydia trachomatis and HPV coinfection across cervical lesion severity: a 10-year retrospective study in Southern China.

BACKGROUND: Persistent high-risk HPV infection is the major cause of cervical carcinogenesis, but the clinical relevance of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) coinfection remains uncertain. We examined the epidemiological patterns of CT-HPV coinfection and their associations with cervical lesion severity among women in Southern China. METHODS: This retrospective study included 21,275 outpatients who underwent concurrent HPV genotyping, CT PCR testing, and cytological or histopathological evaluation between 2015 and 2024. Age-specific patterns and temporal trends were assessed. Age-adjusted logistic r

Role of COVID-19 in the persistence of cervical high-risk human papillomavirus: a non-randomized retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 related immune dysregulation including impaired interferon signaling, reduced cytotoxic T-cell activity, and sustained inflammatory imbalance may contribute not only to delayed screening but also to true biological persistence of high-risk HPV (HR-HPV). This study investigated whether prior COVID-19 infection influences cervical HR-HPV persistence and associated cytological abnormalities. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 738 h-HPV positive women without baseline high-grade lesions or immunocompromising conditions were included. The study group comprised 372 women with

Chlamydia trachomatis infection seroprevalence among women with normal and abnormal cervical smears and its implication for Nigerian cervical cancer screening.

OBJECTIVES: The oncogenic human papilloma virus (HPV) causes transient infections of the cervix, hence other co-factors can potentiate the formation of cervical epithelial cell abnormalities. This study was aimed at determining the seroprevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis infection among women with normal and abnormal Papanicolaou smear cytology results. METHODS: This was a hospital-based cross-sectional comparative study in which study participants were conveniently recruited from January to June,2021. The 50 cases and 50 controls were women with abnormal and normal Papanicolaou smear cytolog

Recurrent cytologic inflammation on cervical smear and risk of low-grade cervical abnormalities in cytology-based screening: A 25-year multicenter cohort study from HPV-resource-limited settings.

BACKGROUND: Cytologic inflammation is a common finding in cervical screening, yet its clinical significance remains uncertain, particularly in settings where human papillomavirus (HPV) testing is not routinely available. We examined whether recurrent inflammatory findings on Papanicolaou (Pap) smears predict subsequent cervical abnormalities in a cytology-based screening context. METHODS: We conducted a 25-year multicenter hospital-based cohort study including 21,574 women who underwent at least three consecutive Pap smears between 1997 and 2021 at three teaching hospitals in Taiwan. The numb

High-risk human papillomavirus genotype distribution, cytological abnormalities, and associated factors among Ethiopian women: a multicenter study.

Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (hr-HPV) leads to cervical cancer (CC), the second most common cancer among women in Ethiopia. Understanding the genotype distribution of hr-HPV is essential for effective prevention strategies. However, existing studies in Ethiopia are fragmented and lack comprehensive national evidence. This study assessed the distribution of hr-HPV genotypes, cytological abnormalities, and their associated risk factors in women aged 30-65 in Ethiopia. A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted from May 2024 to March 2025, including 735 women

Beyond HPV-16 and 18: Clinical Significance of HPV-58 and 59 in Cervical Abnormalities in Northeast India.

Cervical cancer exerts a significant public health burden globally and in India. While HPV-16 and HPV-18 are well-known etiological agents, emerging evidence highlights the regional significance of other high-risk genotypes like HPV-58 and HPV-59. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and cytological associations of HPV genotypes, particularly 58 and 59, in Northeast Indian women. A total of 429 cervical swab specimens were collected from women attending the routine outpatient department at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, between 2021 and 2025, following informed consent and institutional ethical a

Unilateral cervical carcinoma in a septate uterus with double cervix: A case report and literature review.

BACKGROUND: The exact incidence of cervical cancer occurring in patients with Müllerian anomalies is unknown as both conditions are relatively rare and the literature is compromised principally of individual case reports or small series. Despite the rarity of this coexistence, the literature consistently highlights the significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges it presents. This is particularly true when cervical duplication is present as the altered anatomy can hinder adequate cytologic sampling and delay the detection of malignant lesions. CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of unila

Probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy for prediction of uterine rejection in a patient submitted to live-donor uterus transplantation.

Uterus transplantation is a relatively new procedure, with successful births performed using living donors in Sweden since 2014 and a deceased donor, for the first time in Brazil, in 2016. Probe-based confocal endomicroscopy is considered an optical biopsy method (with 1000 times magnification), allowing detailed visualization of tissue cytoarchitecture and microvascular patterns at a penetration depth of approximately 50 to 60 μm. The application of confocal endomicroscopy to the uterine cervix emerges as a promising alternative to weekly cervical examinations in the follow-up of patients who

Morphology-defined bacterial vaginosis and HPV-related cervical screening abnormalities: a two-year real-world study with histopathologic correlation.

BACKGROUND: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is characterized by reduced Lactobacillus dominance and enrichment of anaerobic bacteria. Although BV has been associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, its relationship with cytologic abnormalities and biopsy-confirmed cervical lesions remains incompletely defined in real-world laboratory settings. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective real-world study integrating vaginal fluorescence microscopy, 21-genotype HPV genotyping, thin-prep cytology (TCT), and cervical histopathology records from January 2024 through December 2025 at a tertiary hospi
